"Bella, get down here!!" My mom shouted from downstairs.
I groaned as I got up from my bed. What could she possibly be calling me for?
"This better be good" I mumbled.
I went downstairs to the living room. Gerald, Steve and my mom were seated.
The news was on and a video of me twerking was being showcased.
I had to refrain myself from laughing. If I did, that would have made matters worse.
"What the hell is this!" My mom shouted, referring to the TV.
"A video of me dancing"
"Do you not know what this could do to our image?!"
"I think it's pretty cool" Gerald said "People even joined her. There's really no big deal"
"No big deal?" My mom shrieked "You left school to do this?"
I sighed "Mom, I'm sorry"
"That's it. As from now on, Pablo will drop you and come straight home with the car"
I laughed internally. Doesn't she know I can book an uber?
"Honey, that won't solve the problem" Steve said.
"What will?"
"She's a teenager. Let her live a little. Honestly, she was just having fun. She wasn't doing anything wrong"
Thanks for backing me up Steve.
"Thanks Steve" I said.
"I will not let all my hard work go in vain" my mom continued shouting "She's embarrassing us. Ditching school to shake her butt in front of people? You weren't raised like this Isabella!"
"What about you mom? Were you raised to come home drunk every night?"
The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.
My mom threw the remote at me. She aimed for my head but I quickly ducked.
"Mom!" Gerald screamed.
"Go to your room now!"
I walked upstairs to my room and laid down on my bed.
I received a text from someone.
I took my phone from my bedside table and checked who it was from.
Drew: You're on the news!
Me: I've already seen it. My mom is mad AF
Drew: She'll get over it
Me: I don't think so
Drew: What about your dad?
Me: Surprisingly, he seemed cool with it
Drew: That's fine then
I heard a knock on my door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Me"
It was Gerald.
Me: See you tomorrow at school?
Drew: looking forward to it
"Come in"
Gerald entered my room and closed the door behind him.
"Mom's drinking again" he sighed.
"Come here"
He came over and laid down beside me. I put my hand around him.
The sounds of shattering glasses were heard accompanied with my mom's screams.
Poor Steve. He deals with this on a daily basis.
"It was fun to rebel once in a while, you know" I told him.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I just started talking to this guy"
"Mm hmmm"
I giggled.
"Stop, it's not like that"
"That's what they all say"
"Anyway, I can be myself around him. I feel free. He was the one who dared me to dance in front of the crowd today"
"Wow"
"I wish I talked to him sooner"
"What about your Barbie friends? Do they approve of him?"
Should I tell him about the bet?
"Uh yeah" I lied "They do"
I felt my phone vibrate. I checked it and it was another text from Drew
Drew: We should do this again sometime. It was really nice
Me: Sure
I smiled
2 days down, 58 more to go
