Chapter 16: The Battle

Peter gladly took the sword from his hand pointing it towards Jessa,"You know I'll do anything for money."
     Loki took a step infront of Jessa,"Well, then you know I would do anything for Jessa." Jessa rolled her eyes.
     "Boys, maybe we can come to an arrangement?" Jessa stated warily.
     Volkan shook his head,"Sorry Angelus Regina, it's too late for that. It's extinction day." He thrust his arm towards Jessa, causing a few large spikes to spring up from the ground.
      Jessa jumped back,"This may be a little harder than I had hoped. Loki!" She glanced over at the man,"You take Peter, I'll take Volkan!"
      Loki sent her a curt nod. Jessa pulled her long knife from her boots,"Let's dance."
       Volkan's forcefully hit the ground with his hand, causing it to disintegrate. Dark veins came towards her. Quickly extending her wings she flew up into the air.
      Jessa threw one of her knives at the man, it struck his arm. He glared daggers at the woman gripping his arm in pain, but clearly not trying to show it.
    He flung a shard of rock at her, the shard pierced her wing. It lodged itself in the feathers of her wing. She faltered, the weight of the shard in her wing pulling her down.
     She winced as she ripped the shard from her wing, knowing it left remnants. A hiss was released from her mouth. 
     "Ooh, that's gonna leave a scar." Volkan chuckled. Jessa threw the shaft to the ground. She flew back down the the ground.
     Jessa swung at Volkan,"You will die." Volkan aimed  towards her neck swinging a spike towards her. Jessa blocked it. Volkan lunged forward, tossing and pinning Jessa to the ground.
     "Oh, Angelus Regina, it's too lateknow..." He leaned closer to her whispering to her,"It's always to late."
      She brought her legs up pushing Volkan off of her," The prophecy will prevail, Volkan!"She quickly stood up.
      Volkan let out an evil chuckle,"There is more than one prophecy Angelus Regina!" He shook his head,"When I heard stories of what you did, I thought you would be stronger than this."
      Jessa let out a growl throwing her last dagger at the man. This time it struck his leg. Volkan clenched his teeth, ripping the dagger out of his leg.
     "What did your prophecy say Regina?" He asked through gritted teeth,"Did it say you would defeat me?"
    Jessa turned to Loki,"Loki! I need a sword!" Loki nodded materializing a sword from thin air, he tossed it to her.
    Jessa caught it effortlessly, facing towards Volkan.
     "It said I would fight you to the end." Jessa growled,"I'm willing to do that even if it means the death of me."
     Volkan chuckled,"That's exactly what it's going to lead to." He conjured another sword.
Jessa retracted her wings, before clashing her sword against Volkan's. Volkan thrust the sword towards her. She dodged, quickly swiping her legs under him causing him to trip. He kicked her in the stomach, she wheezed as the breath was knocked out of her.
Volkan stood up,"You really need to try harder." He chuckled, tilting her chin up.
"You need to pay attention." She stabbed the sword through his side,"You are not invincible, you know." Volkan stumbled back as Jessa retracted the sword from his side.
Volkan coughed, blood dripping from his nose,"I was hoping it wouldn't come to this."
Loki and Peter stopped fighting, they glanced over in Volkan's direction. Volkan teleported, Jessa glanced around looking for the god.
Peter seemed to already know where Volkan was going, he rushed over to Loki pushing him out of the way. Before anyone knew it Volkan had appeared in front of Peter, he plunged a sword through his chest.
"Peter!" Jessa exclaimed, running over to the two of them. She quickly pushed Volkan away from Peter. She pointed her sword out towards him.
"Oops." Volkan stated sarcastically,"Well I guess it's to late now."
Jessa growled,"You're gonna die." Volkan shrugged.
"I guess you could try." He stated, stepping towards Jessa.
Loki took a step forward stopping Volkan in his tracks,"Your prophecy never said anything about Jessa having friends, did it?"
Volkan shook his head,"No, but I'm sure it was just a little thing they didn't mention."
"Well if you studied I'm sure that you would know that I am the God of Mischief and Lies." Loki explained,"I could rip your head off of your shoulders in a snap.
Volkan shook his head,"You're bluffing." Loki smirked, raising his hand a little.
"Am I?" Loki snapped his fingers, nothing happened, or so they thought.
Peter stood up, looking almost unscathed,"I'm back." He picked up the sword from the ground.
Volkan was absolutely bewildered, his eyes widened as he looked at the man he presumed dead. Jessa took this chance to literally stab Volkan through the back.
He let out a surprised gasp,"No, it was to easy." Volkan looked up at them with sadness in his eyes. Quickly Jessa pulled the sword out of him. The man fell down to his knees.
Jessa sheathed her sword,"I guess that its over Volkan," she crouched down next to him," I knew you wouldn't win."
"A greater threat is coming. Worse than anything you have encountered before." His eyes glossed over and his gaze grew lifeless.
Jessa stood up glancing down at the mans body. She shook her head, walking over to Loki and Peter. She punched Peter's arm rather hard.
"Never do that again." She growled, as Peter put up his hands in defense.
He pointed over to Loki,"It was his idea." Jessa walked over to Loki.
"You never do that again either." She chuckled,"I just can't stay mad at you two. That was a nice plan." She wrapped her arms around Loki's neck and kissed him on the cheek.
Peter groaned," Did I seriously miss your guys' first kiss!?" Jessa and Loki chuckled nervously.
Jessa removed her arms from Loki,"I guess we better get going?" Loki and Peter nodded agreeing.

"Ansoris?" A teenage Jessa called to her godfather,"What can you tell me about Volkan?"
Ansoris shook his head,"Well... Volkan was from the realm of Midgard, a human to be exact. He came from a motherless family. His father was rash and abusive."
Jessa sent him a questioning glance,"Is that why he is so evil?"
Ansoris nodded,"A very long time ago, he found the destruction stone. He was coming home from his school one day when he found the black infinity stone. He picked it up to examine it. The stone sent dark matter into his body."
"He couldn't be the bearer of the stone because he was completely human." Ansoris explained,"Only someone who is only half human or not human at all can bear the stone. It broke him. As soon as he got home he killed his father and his little brother."
"That's awful." Jessa felt pity for the boy,"Was his real name Volkan?"
Ansoris shook his head,"No, my dear, he went by the name Christopher."
"Poor kid."
