Never Gonna Be The Same

Chapter 5

Bryan drove Maeve to the airport to pick up Finn. Maeve stepped out to look for him, while Bryan put his hazards on.

"Maeve?" Finn walked over to the woman with a round belly. "You didn't have to pick me up. I could've met you at the restaurant."

"I thought it would've been nice to pick you up." Finn hugged Maeve before helping her into the car then getting into the back himself.

"Nice to you meet Finn. I'm Bryan, her son."

"Nice to meet you too Bryan. Roman told me about you. You're going to college soon yeah?"

"Yep. Business management."

"That's good. Roman talks about you a lot."

"Good things I hope."

"All good things. I promise." Finn shook hands with Bryan before helping Maeve back into the car. Finn sat in the back seat, behind Maeve.

"So Finn are you coming back for the baby shower and the birth?" Bryan questioned

"I hope so. I'm hoping that Stephanie let's me have a few days for the baby shower and a few months for the birth."

"Well I'll also be home for the birth."

"That's great! I'm happy that you'll be there. Opportunities like this are rare." Finn looked at Bryan through the rear view mirror.

"We're here." Finn jumped out of the car and rushed to help Maeve out of the car. Finn lifted Maeve out of her seat and walked her into the restaurant.

"How many?"

"Three please."

"Table or booth?"

"Table." The waitress led them over to an empty table. Finn pulled out Maeve's chair, then pushing it in after she sits. Finn sat in between Bryan and Maeve.

"Are you staying at a hotel?"

"Yeah. I can't stay here for too long because of my job and I don't want to impose on you guys."

"You wouldn't be imposing on us. It would be nice if you stayed with us while you are here." Maeve gave Finn a light smile, to which he returned.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I have an extra room you can stay in." Bryan chimed in, never looking up from his menu.

"Hey I'm Maria and I'll be your waitress tonight. Can I start you off with drinks?"

"Yes. Just water for me."

"Two waters please."

"Coke with lemon please?"

"Sure. I'll be back with your drinks in a second." The waitress left the three to stare at their menus.

"I have to use to restroom. I'll be right back." Bryan got up and left the table.

"Would it be weird if I said it was ok to share my bed with me? The bed in the extra room is covered with boxes of things."

"I mean we've already shared a bed once." Finn pointed to Maeve's over-sized belly, "It wouldn't be weird." Finn leaned over and kissed Maeve's head.

"So you'll share my bed?"

"Yeah. Just don't hog the covers from me."

"I won't." Maeve held Finn's hand while they read the menu. Bryan came back and smiled at the two.

"What's up with you Mr. Happy pants?"

"I thought you stopped calling me that."

"No. Now what's going on?"

"I can go to Marie's house tonight. Her parents are gone for the weekend and they said that she can have me over to help her house sit."

"And you were just going to go over?"

"Yeah if it's ok."

"Yeah it's fine. Me and Finn will have the house to ourselves. We'll watch some movies and go to bed."

"Probably."

The trio finished their meal and went to Maeve's house. Bryan dropped the couple off before going to his girlfriend's house. Finn grabbed his suit case and helped Maeve in.

"Do you want to see the sonogram?"

"Sure." Maeve waddled to her room, Finn following behind her. Maeve grabbed the pictures that cluttered her night table and handed them to Finn.

"The girl is on the left and the boy is on the right."

"Have you picked out names?"

"Not yet. I was planning on doing a little drop a name thing for my baby shower."

"Alright. I'm going to call my family to come for the baby shower."

"How do you think your parents are going to react?"

"They'll probably be mad but they'll get over it. What about your parents?"

"My mom passed away a few months back, cancer, and my dad hasn't spoken to me since he left for Europe 18 years ago."

"I'm sorry about your mom. May I ask why your dad left?" Maeve nodded,

"I got pregnant. He couldn't look at me so he left. Me and my mom managed to survive. I started to work, Bryan's dad and his parents helped out if we needed it. Roman's mom baby sat since she wasn't working."

"That was nice of them. Does Bryan still see his dad?"

"Only in pictures. Matthew passed away two years ago from a drunk driving accident."

"Sorry about that."

"Thanks. When Matt passed he left everything to Bryan and me. So when Bryan finishes college, Matt's friend is going to take him in and help him run Matt's company."

"That's good. Head start for him." Maeve just nodded, wiping away the tears that were spilling down her face. Finn took notice and stepped closer to Maeve, wiping away her tears. "Hey, don't worry, Bryan is going to do amazing when he starts."

"That's not why I'm crying. I miss Matt. He was my first everything and now he's gone."

"That's understandable. You're gonna miss him for a long time but he lives on in your heart and in Bryan." Finn pulled Maeve into a hug and rubbed her back. Maeve hugged him and smiled into his chest.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." Finn looked down at Maeve, "You're so beautiful. I hope our daughter looks like you." Maeve blushed,

"I'm sure she will be beautiful." The two stared at each other, "So do you want to watch a movie or go to sleep? You must be tired from traveling."

"Just a little. We can watch a movie." Maeve led Finn into the living room and turned on the tv. They picked a movie and began the night.

Maeve passed out on Finn's shoulder in the middle of the movie. Finn smiled at her, turning off the movie then carrying Maeve into the bedroom.

"Sweet dreams baby girl." Finn kissed Maeve's head before laying next to her.

So many thoughts ran through his mind. Did Maeve want a relationship with anyone now? Is she still in love with Matt? And the million dollar question, why didn't she tell Finn that she got pregnant? Was she afraid that people would think that she wanted him for his money? That she would be depicted as a whore? Did Roman suggest that he would take care of the babies if she didn't say anything? Someone had to have scared her into silence. There's no way that Maeve would be able to take care of the twins and Bryan without help from someone. 

And Finn would find out who scared her into silence.
