It was the day of prom and guess what? Still no date! Technically.

But at this point, I really wasn't worried. I'm an independent woman and I can face my fear of going to a dumb dance alone.

Kam offered to walk me in and hang with me so I wouldn't be by myself, which I greatly appreciated because come to think of it now, I've got no clue who I'd be dancing with once I got there.

We were all currently taking pictures in front of the house. Some of our close family and De's date were here, Kam as well.

DeAndre and I posed next to eachother as my mom yelled at us to get closer. "Cmon! Act like y'all love eachother!" Everyone behind her laughed and I rolled my eyes stepping closer to him.

"Watch the Jordan's Nique." De mumbled under his breath. "Boy shut up." I said punching his arm.

"Y'all are so childish." Marcel chuckled. "Ma, tell him to quit would you?" I groaned stepping away from him and going to see the pictures.

He stuck his tongue out at me and I gave him a quick middle finger without my mom seeing it.

His date walked up to him stood next to him getting ready for her turn. They spoke for a bit as she adjusted his tie for him. He smiled down at her, wrapping his arm around her waist.

I lowkey couldn't stand her. Nevaeh is her name. I rolled my eyes at the thought of her name. Who names their child heaven but backwards? That irks me so much.

She was a cheerleader and dated a few boys during our time in high school. As freshman, she wasn't too bad, but once sophomore year hit, she went crazy. She was with the quarterback of the football team, once he graduated she dated the point guard for the basketball team, and now that he's gone, she's onto my brother.

The newest point guard for our team.

A gold digger in the making you could call her. She ain't done nothing to my brother yet, so ima hold my tongue.

I swiped through the photos and they seemed decent. I had seen the ones Kam and I took and they didn't look too bad.

He was in an all black suit with a blue tie. I didn't want to wear any color in specific so I just wore an all black dress.

Soon enough, pictures were done and we were all on our way to prom in the limo we rented

Soon enough, pictures were done and we were all on our way to prom in the limo we rented. Our whole friend group were in the limo, I was kinda over the whole awkward shit with Shay so seeing her with Lukas was getting normal.

Of course Kam and I sat next to one another then De and Nevaeh were on my other side.

The ride wasn't too long since our dance was in the city. Once we finally arrived, Kam and I stepped out and of course the line to get inside was long as hell.

Before stepping into line I tossed my heels off and slipped on my vans. I knew these would be desperately needed especially if I wanted to be comfortable.
