Monique's POV
It's Saturday, and dad has been back in town for 3 days now. Marcel decided to take me along with him while he ran around doing some personal errands.
We drove across the bridge and I glanced over at him from the passenger seat. "So where we going now?" I asked.
"I'm bouta get my hair cut. I have an appointment at 1:30." He answered keeping his eyes on the road.
I shook my head looking at my phone and seeing it was already 1:13. "Thanks for not telling me, I don't wanna be in Oakland today." I groaned.
"Stop your whining, ain't nothing wrong with Oakland." He said, flicking my head gently. I laughed flicking him back.
We eventually made it to his barbershop and he pulled into a parking spot. "You coming in?" He asked, unbuckling his seat belt.
I looked at him wide-eyed, "You expect me to sit in here by myself?" I quickly unbuckled myself and got out.
We walked in together and he was immediately greeted by a bunch of men. "Marcel, you finally back in town young bull." One of the barbers said.
They dapped eachother up and began having conversation. It was getting awkward for me by the minute so I took a seat in one of the chairs by the door.
Finally my brother and the barber stopped talking and another man spoke up. "So who's this fine young lady you brought in here with you today, your girlfriend?" He asked looking at me from across the room.
I couldn't help but give him a look of disgust.
"No, that's my little sister Monique." Marcel said, chuckling a bit as the barber placed a cape over him.
The laugh was unnecessary, but I guess he was doing it to try and lighten up the conversation.
I rolled my eyes, crossing my legs. Niggas just don't know when to shut up sometimes.
Once Marcel was finished up, he got out the chair and looked at himself in the mirror. "Ah, you always got me lookin right Don. Thanks dude." He said as they once again, dapped eachother up.
"All good, blood. You know I gotchu." They then exchanged money for the cost and the change.
"Alright Mo, lets go." He said making his way for the door. I got up, and walked out with him behind.
He unlocked the car, and I got in on my side. Just as he opened his door, he patted himself down. "Shit, I forgot my phone in there. I'll be right back."
I nodded as he jogged back over to the shop.
I looked around and happened to see a group of guys all in black, bunched around the back side of the shop. They seemed to be typical gang niggas hanging around, but it was way too early for this typa activity.
Just then, Marcel came back out of the shop and walked towards the car. At the same time I could see one of the gang members making his way over to Marcel.
I furrowed my brows, as he tapped my brothers shoulder. He pulled a bandana up over his face and seemed to ask Marcel something.
It was obvious they were starting to have an altercation and my brother looked like he was getting heated.
Something inside of my head told me to stay my ass in the car, but another part of me wanting to get out and defend my brother.
