Monique's POV

2 months later

"i'm excited for our 'friendly' date tomorrow night."

"lol so am i, can't wait to see you looking as cute as you always do 😍🤤"

"you're too sweet ☺️ but it's late and u should get your rest. i'll see u tomorrow after class."

"night gorgeous."

I tossed my phone next to myself on my small but comfortable dorm room bed and breathed out heavily.

"Soo, how are things going with Keith?" Alex asked from her bed across the room.

Alex is my roommate which was a huge blessing. I stressed for months about who I would have to share a space with, but I got lucky.

"We're taking it steady, still on for our 'date' tomorrow." I answered, glancing back over to her.

Keith is a guy I met the first week here at UCLA. We're actually taking 2 of the same classes, so I guess you can say that's what really sparked a connection between us two.

Earlier this week, he ended up asking me to go on a 'friendly outing' with him the other day and I kindly accepted.

I couldn't lie, he was very cute and did have a great personality. After only 2 and a half weeks of knowing him, I feel like he's another person here on campus that I can trust.

Chris and I have been on speaking terms, definitely not how we used to be, but we're friendly with one another.

And finally after months, he and Rih "split up."

It was kinda a relief to me because now I felt like whenever we spoke, he was the same person that I knew before.

Just Chris.

He's been on tour these past few months, so his time talking to me was limited but I totally understood.

"Well that's good," She replied. "You still down for breakfast in the morning?"

I turned to my side, resting my head in my hand as I looked at her from across the room. "Duh, how could I ever pass on food?"

We both laughed and ended up talking for a good half an hour before falling asleep.

Once the morning came, we ate out at our usual spot on campus. A super cute café that actually served good food.

"So my sister ends up slipping off of the bed, and busting her ass on the floor." Alex said through a full mouth of food.

I couldn't help but laugh cause we were so alike. I tried covering my mouth so she wouldn't see the half eaten food.

We continued eating until Alex suddenly stopped and looked at me.

"Don't look now, but Keith is coming our way right now." She whispered, looking behind me then into my eyes again.

My eyes quickly widened and I sat up a bit, then fixed my hair trying to look as presentable as possible.

"What's up guys!" I suddenly heard behind me.

I slowly turned around and gave him a smile. "Hey Keith, what are you doing out here?" I asked, trying to act clueless.

Yes he was nice and everything, but sometimes he was a little too nice you know? I like a lil thug in my niggas.

And besides, this was Alex and I's thing.

"Oh Alex didn't tell you? She asked me to come and join y'all for breakfast this morning,"
