Chapter 3: A Dress is An Extension to One's Beauty

 Cinderella

"FINALLY!" I scream in happiness as I start running to my room.

I finished all my chores in record time. I tip toe through the marble foyer up the stairs. I don't want to interrupt my step-mothers resting time. She wants to be lively for tonight's ball and not the old hag that she is... Well... She is still my step-mother... I shouldn't say that about her.

When I reach my room, Marius was looking out the open window. He was stroking Belle's wing and listening to Maria's song. I chuckle a little bit.

"I see you met Belle and Maria." He jumps a tiny bit and looks back at me. His face turns light red from embarrassment.

"Yeah. They're really something." He says while leaning against the windowsill.

"They are... So, shall we get started?" I ask while walking over to my wardrobe.

"I brought the fabric. I went shopping this afternoon." He picks up several bags that he hid behind my bed. I cross my arms and shake my head a tiny bit. 'He didn't have to do that.'

"A little much?" I pull out my mother's dress that I've been working on. I close the door of the wardrobe with my foot.

"Nah! Put it on the manikin." I do what i'm told and put it on the manikin. I take a step back and look at Marius.

"Hmm... Not bad... Not bad at all. It's turning out quite lovely. The top, was it originally that rose color?" He turns to me after running his hand through his silky brown hair.

"Yes but originally the corset was pink because of white satin that covered it." He nods slowly and puts his hand on his chin while looking at the dress.

"Do you trust me?" He turns to me. This question, I didn't see coming.

"Of coarse I do." I replied after several seconds of thinking. 'He wouldn't trick me... Would he? No! He wouldn't."

"Good. Now, pass the scissors." I smiled and handed them to him. I trust him...

Hours pass slowly as the sun starts to set. When it starts getting dark, I light several candles throughout the room. As time goes on, the dress takes form. If Marius wanted to, he seriously could become a designer. He has mad skills. The dress goes from bland and old to new and bold.

"Cinderella!" We both jump out of our seats and I land on top of Marius.

"Um... Sorry... Um..." Our faces turn bright red. I roll over and stand myself up. "I'm going to see what Fontine wants..."

"Good idea. I'll finish up here then get myself ready." I nod then turn around to head downstairs.

In the back of my head I just have this feeling... Not that he's going to do anything wrong... Just... I don't know...

"Yes Fontine?" I ask when I get into her room. Step-mother was in there helping her get ready fo the ball.

"Good. You're here. We need this skirt mended as soon as possible." I pretend to not know why.

"What's the rush Step-mother?" Fontine's face turns angry for me asking this but step-mother is... unusually calm.

"Tonight, there's a ball at the palace and all eligible maid ans are required to go."

"Oh, I will have this fixed in no time." I turn around as if I'm about to leave but then I stop. "Step-mother..."

She returns her gaze to me. This time, she looks annoyed. "What is it Cinderella?" She says in a semi sweet and angry voice. It's amazing how she does this and it actually sounds both.
