Chapter 9: Obsession

Cinderella

"Madame Charming!"
Can't you just see it?
"Madame Charming!"
His "little wife"!
No sir! Not me!
I guarantee it..."

A door slams from outside the room and I jump. After a minute, I continue.

"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere;
I want it more than I can tell.
And for once it might be grand,
To have someone understand.
I want so much more than they've got planned..."

"I understand, Cinderella..."

"I know you do Marius." I say slowly before kissing his cheek.

After packing, we exit the palace, making sure not to be seen or heard by anyone, into the stillness of night. Outside of the ornate gates of the palace, we flag down a carriage and flee the city. The one thing you don't do... is say 'NO' to royalty.

"Where to?" The cab driver asks us looking while looking into the cabin.

"Paris." I look to Marius confused. The driver nods and the cab starts what is now the long drive.

"Why Paris?" I ask looking towards Marius.

"Because *he takes my hand*, that's were I'm going to marry you." I sigh as he kisses me gently...

Earlier that day...

Prince Charming

"Father... Can you talk to Cinderella?" He asks gently. "I want her to be my wife so bad... but... she seems so... against it..." He sits back in his chair and chuckles.

"Son... there are plenty of other women out there..." I interrupt him mid phrase rudely.

"BUT NOT LIKE HER!" I whine like a baby.

"If she says 'no', then the answer is 'no' son." He says shaking his head.

"Father... I love her. I will not marry unless it's her and only her." I conclude the discussion before barging out of his office, stomping down the hallway and to my room. She will be mine... no matter what.

Cinderella

I walk through the garden watching Belle and Maria fly around me, singing a beautiful song. We stop at the fountain and sit on the edge, looking into the crystal blue water. Calm and still... until one touch of a finger creating a thousand ripples.

The sun beats down on us hard since there's no trees in this garden, just beautiful roses, lilacs, and more. There's a slight, cool breeze though that keeps it just bearable to deal with.

"Cinderella?"

I turn around and see the king. "Your majesty." I say with a slight curtsy.

"Rise my child. May I have a word with you?" He asks softly.

"Yes... always your higness."

"What would it take... for you to marry... my son?" He did not just...

"Your grace... I... I'm engaged already." She said trying to end the conversation.

"What can I give you?" He presses on.

"Your grace! I'm already in love with someone else." I cry out.

"What's your price?" He asks determined to change my mind.

"No!" I say loudly in disgust.

That's when I become scared. The king, he just sits there shaking his head. Soon, a small chuckle emerges and then grows to a full out laughter.

"No? My dear... Nobody tells me 'No'." I gulp as he stands up and walks in front of me. Images flash through my head as I try to predict what will happen next... but for some reason, it always ends with me getting assaulted.

"You will marry my son my dear... If not..." He grips the side of my chair and brings his face to mine. " I will hunt you and those you love down!" He smiles as of the devil and looks directly into my eyes. "Understand?"

Tears begin to well in my eyes as he says this. I nod furiously before pushing out of the way and running inside to my room.

That's when I sing that song and we flee the castle in the carriage to Paris... I can't believe I have to run from my home... but... as long as I have Marius, I will go anywhere at anytime... because he's my soul mate... and he's...

my Home...
