- Dr. Roberts -
By God that girl had come a long way! I looked over at Sang and North, walking hand in hand.
When I first met her she was such a fragile and shy little thing. And look at her now! I smiled to myself and started laughing, thinking of the glorious moment she sent Raven flying.
Heh! Mr. Slick needed to be taken down a notch or two. Sang didn't realize it, but she sure as s*** sealed her fate when she did that. Oh, he'd still flirt and tease her, but she gained his respect and he'd always watch out for her too now.
Not that she needed more protectors. She had all nine of those boys wrapped around her little finger. I didn't think I've ever seen anything like it before.
Wait a minute... I had... A long time ago with Henry Anderson and his team...
I looked at Sang and the boys. Could history be repeating?
- Sang -
We waited along the tree line at the finish on the edge of the field. Silas was competing next. This one was called "the carry." At the opposite end of the field stood Silas and his competition. It looked like he was holding a person cradled in his arms. I shielded my eyes with my hand and squinted at his form.
North was still holding my other one. Since the moment I flipped Raven he hadn't left my side. He was also constantly doing something I rarely saw... smiling.
"What exactly does he have to do North?"
"He has to run the length of the field carrying a hundred and fifty pound body dummy." He looked over at me. "It's a b**** of a race but he's got this."
- Silas -
I held the body dummy in my arms, ready to go. I knew my muscles wouldn't let me down. I would win this.
The signal was given, and I took off. I kept a steady rhythm, my feet pounding on the grass, my eyes focused on my beautiful Aggele. I would always run to her. Always love her. I just wanted her to always run to and love me as well.
I was halfway across the field and the weight was increasingly heavy in my arms. I wouldn't slow down though. She was waiting for me, I could see her shouting and cheering. I felt a burst of adrenaline and went faster, lifted my arms higher, leaving the others far behind. I wouldn't fail, I would make it to her first.
I was her Superman.
- Sang -
Silas crossed the finish line and dropped the body dummy. He bent over, catching his breath. His body was slick with sweat.
We all surrounded him, congratulating.
The boys seemed to want to give him a moment with me and walked away.
"You were wonderful." I grinned.
He smiled and swung me around, pulling us behind a large tree. Away from everyone else.
I was immediately engulfed in his embrace. His hugs would always be the best. I sighed then breathed in his scent. Ocean mixed with sweat. It was wonderful. His hands roamed up my back to my neck. Mine traveled up his broad chest onto his shoulders.
His hard contours contrasted with my soft ones. We were complete opposites but fit so well. Hard to soft. Strong to delicate. Experienced to... not.
My gentle warrior.
He cupped my face, and I looked into his beautiful eyes. Then down to his full lips. I saw them move slightly, whispering words in a language I didn't yet know, but it wasn't necessary. I could see the longing on his face and the inner battle he was fighting at the same time.
I was fighting an inner battle, too. I loved them all and it wasn't fair. I wanted them to belong to me and I to them. I daydreamed about us all having a life together. Never having to make a decision that would break hearts, including mine. But daydreams were dangerous because they made you wish for things you could never have.
"Aggele Mou." He swallowed thickly. "I want... I wish..."
I knew what he wanted and wished. I did too.
In that moment, my heart took the lead. My whole body was shaking. I pulled his head toward mine and lifted up on my toes. I brushed my lips against his and that was all he needed. He kissed me softly at first, and then with a swift intensity that made me cling to him and his solid strength. My lips parted with a sigh and his tongue took entrance. A deep growl came from his chest, and he softened the kiss, slightly pulling away. His forehead was against mine, both of us heavily breathing.
My first kiss. I would never regret it.
"Oh God," I breathed.
"No, Aggele Mou," he smiled... "Silas."
