Behind the Elevator Doors [Riren/Ereri]

Chapter 3

"See ya later, Eren." Armin walks bye, waving. Eren smiles and waves back. Eren decided to stay a little later and help Armin, since he was the only person who he knew.

"Alright, bye Levi." Erwin walks out of Levi's office. Eren looks back watches Erwin. Before Eren could realize, Erwin looks straight at Eren and smiles. Eren completely turns away, blushing. Damnit Eren! Eren was saying in his mind. Him and his stupid way of getting lost in thought. Erwin walks to the elevator and steps in as soon as the doors opened. A second before the door closed he smiles once more. Eren looks at the time. He starts packing his things to get home for Mikasa. Once he finishes he was about to leave until someone put something on his desk. He looks over and pauses. It was Petra.

"Oh, hey Petra." Eren says as he continues packing some of his work. Petra smiles and points to the papers.

"This is some paperwork Levi is giving out to everyone. I suppose he also wanted to give it to you." Petra nods and walks to Levi's office. Just what I needed.. Eren thinks as he also packs those papers up. Eren is the only intern at the company right now. Did he also do this to his regular interns? Eren finally packs up and walks to the elevators. He presses the button and waits.

"Listen, Petra, I already said that I'm not going to that damn meeting." Eren turns around and watches Levi walk with Petra. "Levi, I understand that, but you have been cancelling this meeting for three weeks now." Petra says with determination. How is she still not fired?  Eren asks as he walks into the elevators. Once Eren reaches the lobby, he walks out of the elevators and to his car. As he settles in his car and turns it on, a weird sound comes out of the engine. Smoke starts coming from the engine. Fuck! Eren quickly gets out of the car and opens the hood of the car. He notices one of the pipes got busted. 

"Shit." Eren sighs as he stands back. He puts his hands over his face and exhales. He was about to call someone to tow his car until..

"Oi, what are you doing?" Eren looks over and watches Levi walk over. Eren quickly fixes his posture once Levi reaches up to him.

"Uh.. My car broke down sir!" Eren says as he turns and faces the car. Levi tch-ed and looked at his car. Eren watches him as his slender fingers reaches over to the broken pipe. His face all serious as those grey eyes don't move an inch. He stands up.

"Do you have insurance?" Levi asks as he crosses his arms over his chest. Eren shakes his head and Levi rolls his eyes. How can this brat not have insurance. Levi thought and calls someone. "Petra, I need to you call an auto-mechanic." He says on his phone and hangs up.

"Sir, you really don't need to do that." Eren says as he tries to reassure Levi. Levi rolls his eyes. 

"I have to because I don't want you sitting in front of my building all night, brat." He says simply. Eren blushes from embarrassment. Levi looks at Eren from the corner of his eyes and looks away. "Don't get any ideas that I'll be helping you a lot. I'm only doing it so you can get home and get out of my face." Levi states out of annoyance. Eren nods and looks back at his car. Asshole. Eren thought. After a few moments later the mechanic comes and quickly fixes the broken pipe. Levi pays for it and Eren starts to walk over. 

"Thanks again." Eren says. Levi turns to him and looks at his watch. Levi doesn't say anything so Eren turns around. Eren gets into his car and drives away. Levi watches Eren as he drives away and shakes his head.

As Eren unlocks his door he walks in to an empty room. He sets his keys on the counter and walks to his bedroom to look at the paperwork he was given. It's just paperwork for the news article the company is working on. He starts doing the paperwork knowing that tomorrow it's due. 

"Jesus this is going to take me all night." Eren sighs as he continues working. As soon as he finishes his work he looks at the time. 11:30. There's a knock at Eren's door. Eren looks up as Mikasa walks in. Mikasa sits on the edge of his bed. "Shouldn't you be in bed?" He asks as he continues typing on his laptop. Mikasa shrugs.

"Maybe." She responds as she watches him type. Eren sighs and sets his laptop aside. 

"Come on." Eren says as he walks to the door. Mikasa follows him to her room and she gets in her bed. Eren sits on the edge. "What's on your mind." Eren asks and Mikasa as she slides under her covers. 

"My parents." Mikasa responds as her dull eyes stare past Eren. Eren sighs and puts his hand on her head. 

"I know I'm not always able to hang out. I know that. But, I'm trying. Once I get this job we can do more things together okay?" He tries to comfort Mikasa. She smiles. Eren then kisses her forehead and turns her lamp off. He shuts her door and walks back to his room. The tears in his eyes begin to come as he sits back in his room. He wipes his eyes and gets ready for bed

"Alright listen up." Levi says on top of everyone's mumbles. Everyone looks at Levi as he takes his seat at the end of the table. Eren is seated in the back again as he watches from the corner. Levi looks around and catches Eren's eyes. Levi looks away and continues to give glares at the other workers. Levi crosses his legs and crosses his arms over his chest. A person stands up and hands him the layout and information about their news article. Levi reads over the article and looks at every face in the room. Eren hopes he likes it since he actually helped a lot. Levi then nods and Petra takes the layout and walks out of the room. Levi stands up.

"Nice work. You're all dismissed." He finally says and everyone gets up from their seats. Eren exhales and stands up waiting for everyone to exit the door first. Levi watches Eren closely. "Eren, word please?" He says as he turns to the window. Eren swallows hard and takes a seat. There was a moment of silence before Levi finally says something.

"Tell me, did you do most of that layout?"

"Yes, sir!"

"And you haven't had any experience?"

"No, sir.." Eren says simply as he watches Levi turn around. Levi walks around the table and watches Eren intently. 

"Good work, Jaeger." He replies. He walks to the door. "Dismissed."

Eren stumbles out of his chair and walks out the door confused. How could he have known Eren mostly did the layout? He continues walking to his desk, a few people saying thanks or congratulating him for helping with the layout. Eren smiles sits at his desk. Armin walks over with a couple papers. 

"Hey Eren, I was wondering if you wanted to help me with the other news article we've been working on?" Armin asks as he places the papers in front of Eren. Eren scans the papers and smiles.

"Sure, what do I need to do?" He asks as he wants to help them as much as he can. Armin takes the papers and tells him what he needs to do. Eren nods and starts to work. Finally, last day before the weekend. Eren says as  he starts taking notes. He couldn't help but keep the smile plastered on his face. After a few hours of researching and taking notes, it was finally time to start packing up. Eren starts packing his notes and papers. Once he's got his things together Armin catches up with him. They both walk to the elevators and wait until the doors open. When they do, they both get in. They have a small chat about what they're planning on doing this weekend before they reach the lobby. The doors open and they both go separate ways. Eren exhales and smiles until someone called his name.

"Eren!" Eren turns around and see's Petra rushing towards him. Eren has a confused look on his face seeing Petra rushing towards him. 

"Petra?" Eren asks and Petra smiles. She hands him more work from Levi. When Eren looks at the paper work he has to do, his expression changes. This is going to take me all weekend.. Eren states sadly in his head. He gives her a tiny smile and takes the paper. He waves bye and walks out. Eren walks to his car and opens the driver seat. As he settles himself in he closes the door and has an angry look on his face. Eren grunts and turns on the car. He pulls out of the parking spot and drives on home.
