It is a sunny, Monday morning in late August - the birds were singing as the sun barely peeked over the horizon.

A sandy brown-haired man dressed in a grey very worn t-shirt and black and white plaid pajama pants was sleepily standing near the oven. He yawned and pushed up his glasses since he was too lazy to put in his contacts.

His wife came down the stairs as the smell of scrambled eggs filled the air.

Her curly blonde hair was put up into a low messy bun, her large dark-framed glasses were on her face a little askew. She was wearing a long light blue fluffy robe that reached to her knees.

She looked up from the stairs and smiled seeing her husband cooking breakfast for the family. She approached him from behind and hugged him, placing her head on his back.

"Good morning honey," Sapphire sleepily mumbled, squeezing her husband as he briefly turned around and hugged her even tighter.

Phoenix placed a kiss on her head as he put the eggs on a plate.

"Good morning, have you seen Hallie this morning?" he asked. Sapphire shook her head as her response.

"She ought to get up soon, it's her first day after all."

Hallie was their one and only daughter, who just so happened to NOT be a morning person.

Grumbling, she hit the snooze on her alarm clock, muttering incoherent words as she went to look at her reflection in the mirror.

Her normally straight hair was in tangles, as her eyes were still filled with sleep. She rubbed her eyes a little before looking up towards her clock. Her eyes widened in shock, realizing she didn't have as much time as she thought before rushing towards the bathroom.

After getting ready for the day, she chose her outfit. Today, she decided to wear her signature denim jacket with a plain red t-shirt. She lazily put on her black skinny jeans and she brushed her sandy-colored hair and put it up in a quick high ponytail, making sure that she grabbed her school bag on the way out of her room, quickly turning off her light.

She rushed down the stairs, almost tripping on a step. She walked to see her parents were sitting at the breakfast table, not dressed in their work clothes. They didn't have to leave as early in the morning for their work, so they didn't get ready right away.

"Well good morning, high schooler." Phoenix grinned widely at his daughter, receiving an eye roll in return.

"Dad, I was in high school last year," she said, sitting down with her parents with her glass of orange juice in her hand.

Sapphire smiled a little, "Well, your dad just can't believe that you are growing up so quickly." she explained, eating a bite of her scrambled eggs.

Hallie glanced up at the clock. Walking to school takes roughly 20 minutes - school started at 8, so she only had 5 minutes to eat breakfast.

She devoured her breakfast quickly, giving her parents hugs before she left to go to her high school.
