They were all standing in front of Flynn's house as Flynn went up and took out a key that he had in his pocket and unlocked the front door.
The group of teens walked into the living room. "You can just hang out in the living room. My mother made some cookies the other day so I'll get those out. What do you guys want to drink? We have water, juice, and we have some root beer too." Flynn asked.
Hallie lazily flopped onto the couch as if she lived at that house, "Root beer would be nice." she replied.
Catherine politely placed her bag near her feet as she sat on one of the chairs, "Water would be splendid." she said.
Trey looked around the living room before sitting down next to Hallie (she was gracious enough to move her feet for him to sit). "Root beer for me, thanks," he said.
Max waddled over to where Catherine was at sat on the floor next to her like a loyal dog. "I don't need anything right now but thanks Flynn!" he said cheerfully.
Once Flynn got back and placed all the drinks and the platter of cookies on the coffee table, he tried to start some conversation.
"So, Catherine, what exactly do you need to talk about with my father?" Flynn asked, picking up a cookie.
Catherine wiped her hands on her pants and sighed,
"You see, when I was in the library I stumbled across a book about powers. And when I read the book I saw a quote that I had a question about. The quote basically said that 'due to relatively recent circumstances' that now 5 children can have powers."
"So does that mean none of us are going to die?" Hallie asked.
"It appears so. However, I need to know why in fact we are able to have 5 children with powers. What caused this change that happened some time ago?" Catherine thought out loud to her friends.
"So where does Flynn's dad come into action?" Trey said, scratching his head.
As if he knew that it was his cue, Flynn's dad walked inside, tossing his keys on the counter as he went to go hang up his coat. When he turned around, he saw the group of kids sitting on the couch.
"Oh hey, guys! What are you up to?" Camden asked.
The group looked at Catherine since she was the one that wanted to come here in the first place.
Catherine sighed and sat up from the couch, unfolding a piece of paper that she had in her hand. She flattened it as she handed the paper to Camden.
"Do you recognize the woman in this photo?" Catherine asked.
Camden's eyes began to water once he saw the picture.
It was a picture of a girl that had a bright cheery smile on her face. Her hair was slightly above her shoulders and it was curly. Her hair was a beautiful reddish-orange color and her eyes were a pale turquoise. She had her arm wrapped tightly around a boy with black hair and light blue eyes.
Camden took a deep breath and smiled at the picture,
"Yes. She was a really good friend of mine back in the day."
Flynn got up to go towards his father. He has never seen his father react in such a way, he didn't know what to do in order to help.
"Tell me about her, please," Catherine said, her face showing no information. This meant that she was serious about her research.
Camden guided her towards the sitting area where the rest of the kids were patiently waiting for the scene to unfold.
Camden wiped his hands nervously on his pants before he spoke,
