The man angrily slammed his fist on his desk. No matter how hard he tried, he just could shake the memories away.

He was just a little boy when he experienced one of the most terrifying things a child could witness.
It was supposed to just be like any other day, the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. A perfect day to do most anything, but the boy wasn't allowed outside.
His family had lived in a town in which a majority of its residence had these powers. In fact, his neighbor to the left of him had electricity powers while the neighbor to the right had water powers. Although most of the people there had powers, the little boy and his family were the only ones that didn't have any.
Since they were the minority of the town, they were fearful to go outside. They knew that people target those that aren't like themselves, so the boy was given specific instructions to not go outside. They just wanted to protect their little boy from any pain and suffering that these groups of people may put on him.
One day, the little boy was at home when he had heard a noise coming from the kitchen. When he went downstairs to go look and see what caused it, he was met by two girls and a boy.
They looked to be young adults, maybe 20 or so. One of the girls had a pink mask on that looked like it had a stitched mouth. The other girl had her hair up in a high ponytail, proudly showing off her light blue hair. And the boy...oh he could never forget that boy's eyes. They were a darker orange color, and they glowed brightly.
The girl with the mask quickly whipped out her hands as thick roots went up from the floor, cracking the kitchen tile. The roots wrapped around the boy, holding him tightly as the blue-haired girl stormed up the stairs.
"Hey sweets, you know what to do." the masked girl said, looking at the boy with orange eyes. He silently nodded as the masked girl went up the stairs after the blue-haired girl.
The little boy was in tears as he heard crashing and the sound of breaking glass upstairs. He couldn't cry loudly as the roots that were wrapped around him were tight on his chest, causing him to not be able to breathe as well.
The orange-eyed boy approached the crying boy, bending down ever so slightly in order to meet his gaze. The little boy felt the room warm up as the man in front of him just continued to look at him.
"Hey, there is no need to fear. We aren't going to hurt you, all you have to do is look into my eyes." the man said, his voice was deep. The boy's tears slowly stopped. He didn't want to look at this man, whoever he was.
He turned his head towards the ground, not making eye contact with this orange-eyed burglar. He felt the roots softly wrap around his neck as they held onto his head.
The roots forced his head upward so that he was looking at the orange eyes that he desperately wanted to escape from. He tried to shake away from it but it was no use. The last thing he saw before he fell asleep was those orange eyes, who seemed to shine brighter as his vision went black

When the little boy woke up, he was in a cage. He instantly knew that the cage was made of the same roots that held him earlier.
He suddenly felt very panicked. He remembered that there were the three people that broke into his house, and the girl put those roots around him. And the orange eyes.
He got up but saw that his ankle had a chain made of roots that were connected to one of the bars of the cage. He could move but not much.
