I woke up that morning in a better mood than most days. Today was the day I got everything I wanted, and I was not going to be late for it. I grabbed my bag and the keys to my bright red Vespa, calling out to my dad that I was leaving I pulled out of the driveway and sped down the street. I made a few turns and made it to Cassie's house, Cassie was my best and most trustworthy friend. I trusted her with everything, we had lived in the same neighborhood since forever and had been partners in crime for just as long.
"Cassie!! C'mon we're going to be late!", I
exclaimed through her open window.
"I'm coming, just give me a second!", she yelled.
She came rushing down the stairs, her shoes and backpack in hand.
"what took so long?!", I inquired angerly.
" why're you in such a hurry Sara?!", she snapped.
"don't you remember what happens today?", I asked hastily.
"obviously not, what could be so important".
I turned, giving her an astonished look; Cassie never forgot anything. Ever.
"You, me, Caspian, Xander, Abbey, and Zeke. What are we all supposed to be doing on a day like today?", I questioned pulling out of the driveway.
".....go to The Grail and await orders of pursuit?", she guessed.
"exactly", I replied with a sigh.
The Grail was an organization of assassins, Siren assassins that is, and we were of the elite. If you are unaware, a Siren is a being that can control living things with their voices and I am one of them. I am the commander of a high-class assassination bureau, and I just started a week ago. That week, I had found out that my best friend was a Siren and a elite member of the Grail, as was some of my neighbors and the boy I was head over heels for, Caspian James. Today was the day I was going to try to get his attention, he is my vice commander and he is far more experienced than I am.
"Are you going to talk to Caspian today?", Cassie questioned suspiciously.
"I might, why do you ask?", I answered as nonchalantly as possible since the mention of him sent my heart beating faster than average.
"hmm....just wondering", she said.
Soon we arrived at the gate to the Grail, I ruffled through my bag pulling out my set of keys and ID card. Cassie slid her ID card around her neck while I inserted one of the numerous keys into the slot above the keypad. I punched in my command number and slid my ID card, the enormous doors began to open and I slipped my ID around my neck and my key ring around one of my belt loops. Slowly driving through the doors, I drove to my designated sector of the Grail. Our sector was on the 7th out of 13 floors of the Grail, and it was a task to go through each door of each sector up to 7 because each door required a different key and my ID card. Once we reached our sector I parked and we strode into my division, I immediately flashed my ID to security and Cassie did the same. We walked to my office where the others were waiting patiently for us.
