She looked....blank...like she wasn't really there but I could see her, watching me.

"e-excuse me", she rasped quietly, "where.....am I? Who are..you? Who am I?".

I shuddered in Caspian's arms and buried my face in his chest, I hated this part of every mission. Dealing with the children who had forgotten themselves. Xander stepped forward and gave the girl a grin.

"don't worry sweetie, we're the good guys we'll help u get home okay?", he said calmly.

"o-okay", she stammered.

We split up and started setting up our equipment. Xander kept talking to the girl while we scanned her and took a few tests to determine who she was and where she was from. We also took some time to log her information just in case there was a pattern in victims.

"her name is Jillian, she's from a small village Not far from here, her mother is deceased and her father has been frantically looking for her", I stated blandly.

"let's get her home", Xander said lifting her off the bed.

We packed up the gear and called for a taxi to take us to Jillian's address. As I wandered through the rest of the house I noticed that there had been three Anomaly but only one child. They usually wouldn't gang up on one child because they liked individual fear not shared. They're adapting, which isn't good. Caspian sauntered up behind me making me jump as he hugged me from behind.

"are you okay?", he asked concern filling his voice.

I turned, leaning into him taking in his warmth. I closed my eyes and sighed.

"no, not really", I replied, "they're learning Caspian, three of them took on that one little girl....".

"I know....that just means we need to do our jobs", he said pulling me closer.

"Caspian....why did you get...scared earlier, when we fought?", I asked.

His grip tightened around my waist and he grit his teeth. He looked nervous, as if he didn't want to tell me.

'Caspian......what've I gotten myself into?'

"Saraphine.....you used a very strong bloodlust spell......the amount of energy it takes to wield that power can tear you limb from limb......",he muttered between clenched teeth.

My blood ran cold. I didn't know that, at the time I didn't know what I was saying.

"w-what?", I choked.

I was now on the verge of tears. I could've died. Fighting could've killed me.

"you could've died Sara.....I would've lost you....so please don't ever do that again", he softly mumbled in my ear, begging me not to use the spell.

"....if the time comes where it is necessary, I will not hesitate to use it.", I stated boldly.

"Sara-", he started concern and pain in his voice

"that is an order.", I interjected stubbornly.

He gazed into my eyes with pain, pain I had never seen before, and it hurt for me to make that decision. I had to, if it would save everyone I had to. He closed his eyes and stayed very still, his heartbeat speeding up under my fingertips.

"I'm sorry Caspian but I have no other choi-", I said quickly being interrupted by a kiss.
