Protector of the Crown

Chapter Nine:

Audrey’s Pov. (A/N It’s mostly going to be in her point a view now; it’s just that if there is something important that he needs to tell I will use him. I have had a lot of comments saying that people don’t like the Pov changes well…deal with it. I am not going back to change and edit things until I get this finished. That’s all I wanted to say…although I don’t know why I didn’t say this up there ^….)

Before Nickolous followed me to Leofwin’s house and demanded that he come with us on the journey, the traveling wasn’t as awkward saying I just cried over him and Henry comforted me. But this time, it was Avice, Nickolous, Henry and me, so it was quiet because nobody could think of anything to say.

Avice sat next to me, and Nickolous and Henry sat across from us. “So,” I started, not sure how to start a conversation at this moment. “Where is Zachary and who is he protecting?” I asked Henry.

Henry replied, “He is protecting the small refugees from the Rendenton Reign in the other Realm.”

“Rendenton Reign?” Nickolous repeated, “I thought nobody was able to escape that.”

Avice answered, “Only eighteen people survived. There were originally forty-five but Rendenton sent a fleet after them… “ she trailed off.

“Oh.” Nickolous said. He turned to Henry, “Why do you know so much?”

“I am omniscient.” He answered.

Nickolous laughed, “What?”

“The spirits gave me never-ending knowledge. I know all, past, present, future.” Henry answered.

Nickolous studied him for a moment, “Prove it.”

Henry smirked, “When you were eight years old you went to tell your father that you had just caught a toad, but instead of being proud of you he lectured you and told you, you had to stop fooling around and focus of becoming king.”

“Well if you know all that, why won’t you tell us who the Gold Warrior is?” Nickolous inquired.

“In the future, you will know. The Gold Warrior will tell you, but not I. I was given this power for a task, but tattling is not my task.” Henry answered. “Did I answer your question?”

Nickolous looked bemused, “So they gave you this ‘all-knowing knowledge’ and you can’t tell anyone what is going to happen in the future?”

“No.”

“Do you know what is going to happen to yourself in the future?”

“Yes.” He looked at Avice who seemed to be distracted. “I do.” The look he gave her, it was the same look Nickolous gave me.

He loved her!

Henry was in love with Avice! 

I smiled and laughed. Nickolous and Henry looked at me bemused. Nickolous asked, “Audrey, are you okay?”

“Yes, I am fine. Lovely, in fact.” Suddenly the carriage came to a halt. There was shuffling outside. Then there was a sound that I knew all too well.

The sound of sword going into someone.

I cautiously drew back the curtain slightly and saw a group of men and women dressed in all black with dirt all over them and sacks in their hands.

“Thieves.” I muttered.

“What?” they all exclaimed in unison.

“Shh!” I tried to warn them but the carriage door was flung open and a mean looking man with an eye patch and lots of muscles stood there.

“Well, well, well… look what we have got in the Royal Family’s carriage.” He said to his caravan, he had a menacing smile. If he wasn’t a thief who might try to kill us at any moment, I would say he was handsome. He was giving me a strange look and was looking me up and down.

“Yes, I am servant sent to send news to Lady Fern of Grench.” I lied.

“Who are they?” he asked.

“They are my brother and his wife,” I nodded to Avice and Henry, “And my husband.” I nodded to Nickolous, a girl can dream. Especially if they saw the way the Head Thief was looking at me. “We hope we can just continue on our way without any trouble. We don’t mean to disrupt you. I hope we all can move on past this and forget this ever happened.”

“Oh, yes. I would love to do that, except you have a problem.” He replied.

“What?”

“We killed your driver.”

That means we’re stranded with them.

I updated! Yay! I hope you liked the chapter. Oh and Henry wants me to tell you that there will be a BA fight scene next chapter. Oh yeah, they think they can beat three warriors and a prince? Yeah right!
