Okay, so please don't hate me for this late update! I've been busy and writer's block has been the biggest pain (again!). I don't think this chapter is one of my best, but I just got sick or rewriting it over and over again! I liked some of the suggestions for what Tristan should do to earn her forgiveness, but no one's guess made it into this chapter. :)
Once again, thanks SO much for all the comments, fans and votes! They mean so much to me! :)
Song Choice: Apologize by OneRepublic"How dare you!" I spat, reaching my hand up to smack him hard across the face, but he caught it with the one that wasn't currently still holding my hand, I had completely forgotten that I was holding his hand. I tried to rip both of my hands out of his, but his grip only tightened.
"Let go of me!"I ordered; yanking on both his hands to emphasize my point. When he wouldn't let go, I glared at him, "How dare you do such a thing! You are such a fucking asshole! You can't just bond us together without my permission."
He just shrugged at me "I can when I think it's the best thing for you."
"What the hell gives you the right to decide what's best for me? Only I can decide that!"
"Not when you clearly can't be trusted to make the right decisions, Jessica. You're reckless, so I decided early on that I was going to have to mark you in order to protect you from yourself."
"Protect me from myself?!" I repeated, "I don't need protection from myself, I need it from you and that crazy brother of yours. Mark my words, I will kill you for this."
"Even if you truly wanted to kill me, Jessica, you can't." he gave me this knowing little smile that made me want to smack him, but since his hands were still holding both of mine, I couldn't hit that look off his face like I wanted to.
I knew I was going to regret asking this, but that knowing smile was getting on my nerves, "Why?" I asked.
"Because you and I are connected more so than just mentally or physically; our lives are connected to each other."
"What the hell does that mean?" I asked; though I had a general idea already.
"It means that our life forces are connected, so if I die then you die too and vice versa." he explained.
I was a bit stunned by this admission that I stop struggling for a moment to simply stare at him.
I heard Abigail sigh from the front seat, "Tristan, this really isn't the best time to get into this..."
I wasn't surprised when he ignored her.
"That seems kind of a stupid thing to do." I finally said.
He arched an eyebrow, "What makes you say that?"
"If Christophe or Annabelle had killed me then you would have died too."
He snorted, "I knew when my brother had you that he wouldn't kill you, Jessica."
I raised an eyebrow, "How could you be so sure?"
"My brother likes toying with people; making them go insane and having them beg for death before he finally gives it to them. He wouldn't have killed you until you had reached that point. Though, I don't think he would have killed you had he had you long enough since he knew that there was something that he could do that would hurt me more."
I stared at him; I had a pretty good idea of what he was talking about, but I just had to be sure, "What could be worse than that?"
"Seeing a strong-willed and stubborn girl I actually cared about such as yourself turned into broken shell of a person."
