Chapter 9

Chapter 9: Courting

"Magandang gabi po, Mr. Bernardo." [Good evening, Mr. Bernardo.] he said as soon as the father of Kathryn stood in front of him. He swallowed the lump on his throat as his hands are shaking and sweating from nervousness. 'Mas kinakabahan ako dito kesa sa nanay ko.' [I'm more nervous here than to my mother.] he thought. Kathryn and Min Bernardo chuckled on his reaction. 

"Umupo ka, Daniel." [Sit down, Daniel.] Ted Bernardo said sternly as they all sat. 'Pucha! Grabe yung puso ko!' [My gosh! My heart!] he thought.

"Are you courting my daughter?" he asked and Daniel nodded slowly. "Are you sure? It's not for your career?" he asked again and Daniel nodded and shook his head made the Bernardos confused. "You have a tongue,boy." Ted said sternly and he can see the sweat on the boy's forehead.

"Yes sir. I'm sure and this is not for fame or my career. It's about my feelings for her." he said without stuttering while Kathryn smiled at his statement that made him calm for a moment.

"Pinapayagan kita. Pero sa oras na nasaktan mo ang prinsesa namin.. lagot ka. Kathryn?" [I'll let you. But the time you hurt our princess.. you're dead. Kathryn?] Ted said with seriousness on his face. "Opo." [Yes, sir.] he said softly. 

"Yes po?" Kathryn answered. "Do you like this boy?" Ted asked his daughter that made Kathryn blushed and Daniel smiled slowly.

"Yes.. po." she said and Daniel smiled widely.

"MGA TOL!!!" [BRO!!!] Daniel shouted as he closed the gate of the Bernardo's. His bandmates waiting for him. They shout and hug each other like crazy.

"Ano? Pasado ka na?!" [What? Are you accepted?!] JC asked while having a grouphug circling down the street.

"Tatay ka na?" [Are you a father?] Seth asked.

"Kayo na?" [Are you a couple now?] Katsume asked.

"BASTED KA NA?" Lester asked as everyone stared at him made him looked serious too. "Joke lang tol. Congrats!" [Just kidding. Congrats!] he said and patted Daniel's shoulder. 

"I am officially courting her." he said while they all walk going to Daniel's house. "But there are rules." he added as everyone nodded at him.

"Zharm.. I'm sorry." Daniel said on the phone. 'Rule Number 1: Closure with your past. I heard about Zharm making my girl cry. You need to end something properly before courting my daughter.' Tito Teddy's voice ringing on his ears.

"What the hell?!" Zharm shouted that made Daniel closed his eyes because of frustrations. "I already lost my feelings for you before Kathryn came. She even pushed me because you're my ex. She's not a stealer. She's still your friend." he said calmly as Kathryn flashed on his mind. Zharm sobbed on the phone.

"I'm sorry." she sobbed and ended the call. Daniel quickly blocked the number and thanked Seth.

"Bagong buhay ka na talaga tol. Masaya kami para sayo." [You really have a new life bro. We are happy for you.] Seth said as the other bandmates swim and dive at Daniel's pool.

"Hmm.. hmm.. hmm..." Daniel hummed as the TF family with Kathryn walked going to Takas Queen's house. Daniel's smile didn't leave his face as he holds Kathryn hand tightly. 'Kinikilig ako eh.' he thought.

"You're so creepy, DJ." Kathryn said as she can see Daniel's smile that holds a surprise. Mark Salamat and Takas Queen entered the house while Daniel holds her hand that made them stopped on their track.

"I have something to tell you." he whispered as he fix the hair strand that covers Kathryn eyes. Kathryn's heart flutters to the gesture. "What is it?" Kathryn asked softly.

"I already did the rule number." he said and Kathryn smiled to the news and her eyes twinkle as the night hide them.

"What did she say?" she asked as her tears are already building up on her eyes. She remembered her bestfriend. "She said sorry and she ended the call, that's all. Don't cry baby.. it's not your fault." he whispered as he wiped the tear rolling down on her cheek. 

"I really can't stop myself on making you happy." he said as he cupped Kathryn's face and Kathryn hold his hands. "I have something special for you." he said huskily as their nose touched.

"Walk through that door for me, baby." he said softly as he let the confused Kathryn walked through that door.

 As Kathryn opened Takas Queen's door, the living room full of pink balloons, the floor full of rose petals, the candle on the table is the only light on the living room, three types of food on the table while Mark Salamat and Takas Queen holds roses and smiling widely to her. She turned back, Daniel holding step of rose. 'I'm dreaming.. right?' she thought and Daniel gave her the rose.

"This is too sweet, DJ." she said sweetly as she holds the three roses that they gave to her. "Anything for you, baby." he whispered to her and Kathryn quickly jumped on him and hugged him. Takas Queen shrieked in surprise while Mark smiled at them.

"This Kathryn! Eat this! Daniel cooked it for you." Mark Salamat said as Daniel blushed heavily and scratch his head. Kathryn giggled to his reaction. "Ano ho ba ito, Kuya Mark?" [What is it, Mark?] she asked as she took a spoon of the dish. 

"Sinigang na cornbeef." he said and Takas Queen laughed while Kathryn took it on her mouth. Kathryn's eyes widened to the taste of the dish. "It's good!" she said and the others taste it. It was really a good dish. 

"Pwede ka ng mag-asawa, Daniel!" [You can get married already, Daniel!] Takas Queen joked. "Baka yung bride ko hindi pa.." [Maybe my wife is not yet ready..] he said while staring at Kathryn's eyes and his arm on Kathryn's waist. 

"Grabe ka-sweetan niyo! Jusko!" [You, two, are so sweet!] Mark Salamat exclaimed and Takas Queen agreed. "Oh! Picture tayo! Remembrance bago ako umalis!" [Hey! Let's take a photo! Remembrance before I go!] Takas Queen said and put the camera infront of them.

"Did you enjoy?" Daniel asked as Kathryn's head on his chest while he caress her shoulder inside the van where Mark Salamat is driving. "Best night ever." Kathryn said as her eyes flutters in sleepiness. It's already 9PM.

 'Rule Number Two: Her curfew is 9PM.' - Tito Ted. 'Wala ho bang extension?' [No extension?] Daniel pleaded and Ted exhaled heavily. '9:30PM. Period.' Tito Ted said sternly. 

"Nandito na tayo, lovebirds." [We're already here, lovebirds.] Mark said as they all arrived on Bernardo's house. "Thank you, Kuya Mark." Kathryn said sweetly as she hugged him. 

"Thank this guy." he said and pointed Daniel. Kathryn smiled and kissed Daniel's cheek and ran to their gate. Daniel was stunned. "Daniel okay ka lang?" Mark asked. 

"Kuya Mark.. Totoo ho ba to?" [Mark.. is this even true?] he asked as his eyes still on closed door of Bernardo's house. Mark chuckled.

"Oo, Daniel. Totoo yung hinalikan ka ni Kathryn sa pisngi." [Yes, Daniel. It's true that Kathryn kissed you on your cheek.] Mark said.
