"i need the two of you to cooperate!" greg glared at mackenzie and johnny.

"that would have been easy, if johnny hadn't cheated on me," mackenzie glared at the not sitting opposite her.

"at least give me a chance to explain." johnny glared at mackenzie. "okay! stop glaring everyone," dale glared at everyone in the room.

johnny let out a chuckle, while mackenzie attempted to suppress a smile. greg simply rolled his eyes.

"all you two have to do is post a picture on instagram promoting your new song! how else do you expect people to find out about it." greg exclaimed.

"fine!" johnny gave in. he grabbed his phone and right in front of greg and dale, he posted the picture.

the comments and likes instantly began flooding in, half of them freaking out about the kiss

"now you." greg turned to mackenzie. she was about to protest, but dale caught her eye and shook his head, she sighed, and then she too posted a picture.

"okay. john, you can go back to record 'everything'. dale. if you would, please help him," greg said.

dale nodded and then him and johnny left the room. mackenzie got up to leave, but greg stopped her. "not yet. sit down." he ordered.

mackenzie went back and sat down opposite greg. "yes?" she questioned, raising her eyebrows.

"so i hear you and johnny have pulled of your engagement." he stated. "yes, we just told you." mackenzie answered back.

"well, we need someone for you to boost your status." greg smirked. "why can't i be an independent woman?" she challenged.

"fans like seeing their stans with a love interest," greg continued. "if i agree. if i do, who do you have in mind?"

"me."

mackenzie turned around and saw the person she least expected to appear. "what is he doing here?" she asked greg, a disgusted look on her face.

"brandon is the boy who you will be 'fake dating'," greg answered.

"what! why-no! i can't-i won't!" mackenzie spluttered. "it's already settled," greg said, looking slightly annoyed.

"why brandon? anyone but him!" mackenzie begged.

"ahem. still here," brandon fake coughed.

"ahem to you too." mackenzie shot brandon a death stare. "well, it's settled, and i'm not budging from my decision. but there are a few rules. brandon, take a seat." greg told, well rather ordered brandon.

brandon slowly walked over and sat next to mackenzie, who immediately got up and moved to the other side.

"just get this over with," she sighed.

"okay. well the first rule is you have to immediately announce your relationship.

mackenzie, you don't have to mention the fact that you and johnny broke up. just post a picture saying that brenzie is real or something, with a brenzie hashtag. brandon, same to you, but were you dating anyone?" greg said.

"not since my date with mackenzie," brandon admitted. "but that was five years ago," mackenzie said, staring at brandon in confusion.

brandon simply nodded. mackenzie felt her heart soften, but then she realised that this was the brandon who stole her song. sure, she'd forgiven him, but she still hated him, and he knew it.

"what's the next rule?" brandon asked, changing the subject. "no one can know." greg replied.

"huh?"

"you can't tell anyone that the two of you are fake dating. no, not even dale, mackenzie. no one. brandon, your manager is aware of this, but no one else. this can only stay between me, brandon's manager, and the two of you." greg declared.

"why can't i tell dale?" mackenzie asked, annoyed.

"because he won't approve." "so then why am i doing this?" mackenzie sighed again. "to boost your career. johnny has nadia," greg openly said.

mackenzie stiffened at the sound of nadia's name. brandon noticed, and reached out to touch her hand. mackenzie realised from the corner of her eye, and before he could touch her, she pulled away.

brandon looked sort of put out, and folded his arms across his chest. greg watched the whole scenario play out.

"that. it leads us to the third rule." he began. "which is?" mackenzie rolled her eyes.

"the two of you have to act couple-y. you have to hold hands in public. i won't force the two of you to kiss, so you can thank me for that, but holding hands is a must. your first date is tomorrow," greg announced.

"tomorrow?!" mackenzie screeched while greg simply nodded. "what's in it for you?" mackenzie turned to brandon. "same as you," he answered.

"how long is this for?" brandon asked greg. "indefinite," greg answered firmly.

mackenzie opened her mouth to protest, but closed it upon receiving a glare from greg. "fine," she relented.

"great! now the two of you are dismissed. and remember. not a word to anyone and i have my ways of finding out if either of y'all open your mouth." greg gave them a warning look.

mackenzie grabbed her bag and stormed off while brandon calmly got up, thanked greg, and then he followed mackenzie out the door.
