"what's wrong?" mackenzie asked nadia, secretly hoping that she would let the dare be. "sorry," she muttered. this wasn't what i was expecting, mackenzie thought
"why?" mackenzie questioned.
"for everything. since the day i met you." mackenzie was surprised at this sudden love, and was about to ask her about it as well as the dare, when brandon announced, "please welcome mackenzie ziegler!" mackenzie looked at nadia. "go! and remember, the dare!" nadia grinned, giving her a knowing look.
mackenzie shrugged and walked onto stage. the moment she did, everyone went ballistic. half of them, well, ninety percent of them were screaming jenzie, while seven percent were screaming brenzie, and the rest were screaming kenzie or brandon.
mackenzie waved to the crowd, and then smiled at brandon, before opening her mouth, and talking into the microphone. "thank you guys for coming out! i hope you enjoy our performance!" the crowd applauded as mackenzie and brandon began. they both sang their very best, and even mackenzie was proud of how they sounded together.
their performance ended much too soon, but mackenzie had to delay the kiss. as much as she could.
"so before we leave, how about a little impromptu q and a session?" mackenzie asked the crowd, looking at brandon, who looked slightly surprised, but nodded anyways.
there was a loud chorus of yes from the onlooking crown, and so two chairs were brought out for brandon and mackenzie to sit on, while they answered questions.
finally, after the whole crowd was quiet, mackenzie spoke. "okay, so this is going to be like school. raise your hand to ask a question, and no yelling," she chuckled. everyone joint in, but they soon subdued.
"so who's first?" brandon finally spoke.
there was a flurry of movement, as everyone moved their hands up. "okay, uhh you. in the orange top," brandon said, pointing to a small girl, in the second row.
the girl exchanged an excited look with the girl beside her, and then yelled, loud enough for everyone to hear, "how did you and johnny meet?"
mackenzie glances at brandon from the corner of her eye, and wasn't surprised to see anger flash in his eyes. she felt slightly bad, but shook it off, and replied to the girl.
"we actually met as i got off a subway. he spilt coffee on my new coat," she laughed. there were a few chants of jenzie, and mackenzie noticed johnny smiling from ear to ear. oh, if only that would be his expression by the end of the concert.
the q and a went on for about 10 more minutes, until mackenzie could delay it no further. "okay. last question everyone. who wants to ask?" she said.
this time everyone yelled. mackenzie looked around and finally she spotted a tall girl, with blonde hair, in the front row, who looked excited, but she wasn't screaming. "go on," she urged the young girl. "
the crowd hushed, excited to hear the girl's question. "why are you and brandon fake dating?" she asked. there was a loud rush of gasps heard. mackenzie gave everyone a fake smile, and let brandon answer. "well, we actually aren't. we've been dating for a while now," he spoke smoothly.
"sure you have," the blonde rolled her eyes. well, she didn't seem as quiet as she was previously.
mackenzie knew she should do it now. she closed her eyes, and put her arms around brandon. she pulled him closer, before smashing her lips on his.
the crowd went hysterical, and the sounds of cameras clicking could be heard as well. mackenzie pulled away after a second, the kiss still lingering on her lips. she turned back to the crowd, gave them a smile, and the walked off stage.
as she did, she saw johnny disappear around the corner. she was about to rush after him, but as she looked at the floor, she understood what had happened.
johnny had come backstage to congratulate her, and he was most probably peeking through the curtains, so he would have seen the whole kiss. what got to mackenzie was the red rose lying on the floor.
she picked it up, and realised what it was meant to be. on their anniversaries, the pair used to give each other a red rose, something that their fandoms created.
as she stared at the rose, mackenzie heard a cough behind her. she turned around, and saw brandon standing there. "kenzie, what was that for?" he asked her, still shaken from the kiss.
"they weren't listening. i had to," mackenzie lied. brandon nodded, evidently upset, before turning around and leaving.
yet again, mackenzie felt a pant of guilt. and so she did what she had to. she ran behind brandon.
