This morning, or rather yesterday morning I went in for my third needle biopsy on my kidneys. The doctor wanted to see if I had active lupus in them. The proccsess itself went smoothly, I was taken right back to the ultrasound room. They numbed my back with local agent, Lidocaine. Then they took too peices of my kidney out through a big needle. Afterwards the ultrasound Tech and I joked that I was pregnant with twins and even printed out the pictures of my kidneys for me. After the procedure you are told to lay on your back for four hours to help minimise bleeding. After about an hour I was in extream pain and they repeated the ultrasound. It turnes out when they put the biopsy needle in the severed a artry in my musscle and causes it to bleed into my back. They admited me to the hospital and had me stay overnight for observation. In the morning they repeated blood work and ultrasound and found that the bleeding had stopped and reduced in size. I was free to go home at last!
