Episode 4: Mistake Made On Purpose (Part 1)

When Steve and I got home, I started doing my homework. It was easy so I finished early and then went into my room to organize everything. I had a phone by my bed. Steve put it there so I could feel saver. Suddenly it started to ring. I walked up to it and answered.

"Hello?" I said.

I heard nothing.

"Hello" I said once more.

The line was silent but then a ringing noise came from the phone. It got louder and louder. Then the line went fuzzy and I could hear static. I quickly put the phone down but I placed it up to a point where I could still hear it but not touch it. Loud shrieks were coming out. It was getting louder and I could hear a deep monster like found.

"Get him. And bring him to the upside down."

At this point all the lights were flickering and I stepped away from the phone. With one step away the voice made it sound like he was behind me. So I looked behind and there was no one there. When I looked back at the phone there he was. But as soon as I blinked he went away. I tried to escape by opening the door but it was locked. My room lite up with lights and the screams were so high pitch that I had to cover my ear. I was in fear and just stood there. But I realized I had to grab the phone and turn it off so the other line would go dead. So I uncovered my ears and ran up to the phone holding it in my hand I slowly put it back on but before the line went dead it shocked me making me drop it. The lights went back to normal and the screams went away. I looked around and picked up the phone.

"Go away" I whispered into the phone with my eyes closed.

"Hello" I opened my eyes at the voice.

"Who's this?" I said with fear in my voice.

"Its Will. You left your folder here at my house. I can give it to you at school if you want?" he said.

"Sure. Thanks" I said in relive that it was Will.

"Yeah no problem." I ended the call and ran to my door hoping that it would open. It did.

I ran to Steve. He was making diner. He looked up at me from the stairs.

"You ok. You look like you just saw a ghost." Steve said.

I walked down stars and felt tears prickle at my eyes.

"I-I'm scared." I said choking on the sentence.

I came up to him and just looked at him hoping he would know what to do. But I figured he wouldn't because no one knew how I felt or what was going on. Steve just put his arms around me.

"It's ok, your save." He said in a calming voice.

I let the tears fall and kept playing the words 'your save' over and over again in my head. Steve let go and said

"Hey why don't we eat diner." I walked to the table and ate my food as he was working on homework.

"You have homework too?" I question.

"Yeah. I still go to school too."

"Do you like school?" Steve looked at me with a smile and said

"Oh yeah schools the highlight of my day."

"I guess you picked up on my teasing."

"Well I learn from the best." He said.

I smiled.

I continued eating my food. I felt saver knowing that at least I lived in a house with someone who knew what to do. Mike was the same from remembering telling him everything about eleven.

When I got ready for bed I was going to go and say goodnight to Steve. Steve was really nice and I actually felt protected by him.

When I walked to his room I heard him talking and started to eves drop.

"Hi Hooper it's me Steve. Um so I'm calling you because Nicole keeps on having weird episodes and cry's afterwards making her look really scared."

"Hey Steve. It's normal for a kid to do that. Especially if they don't really have parents in the beginning."

"Are you sure. It feels like you're not telling me something"

"I'm positive. Keep an eye on her"

"I can't do that though if I don't know what's up. And why did you give away to me if you can handle it-"

"STEVE enough with this. No more questions"

"But-"

Hopper hang up before anyone else could hear. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open a little. Steve turned around and looked at me.

"Um hey. I'm so sorry I had to ask hopper-" Steve said before I cut him off.

"No Steve. I'm not being honest with you."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that my really name is Nine. And I'm not even close to being normal"

"What" he looked confused.

"I have different powers."

I lifted up my hand making the phone float in the air. Steve was just looking at it very surprised. His eyes wide.

"I can also make you see things that aren't even there."

I imaged colorful shooting stars. It light up the whole entire room.

"You're like Eleven" Steve said.

"Yes I am. I used to live with eleven before hopper wanted me to live with you." I said with a soft tone in my voice. "You know eleven too." I question.

"Yes believe it or not she saved our asses by closing the gate."

"The gate? You mean to the upside down world." I said.

"Yeah." Steve said while nodding his head.

"I unfortunately know about that place. I'm sorry for having episodes. It's just I can't help it. He's making-"I cut my sentence off before Steve could know anything else about him. "Hoppers making me live here with you." I continued.

"Well I'm glad you trust me enough to tell me this." Steve said knowing that I actually trusted him.

"Well you should probably go to bed"

"ok thanks too by the way." I said. 

"Yeah no problem." Before I left his room I turned around and said goodnight. When he said it back to me I went back to my room and fell right to sleep.
