Sweet Pea

The nurses pushed me out the room as it seemed to be an emergency. It took about ten minutes for the nurses to let me back inside. "She's stable now, she had a heart attack," one nurse said.

I thanked the nurses and walked over to Kathryn's bed. She was awake but she wasn't caught up in talking to a nurse about what had happened. I sat down next to her bed and waited to talk to her. After the nurses left, Kathryn laid eyes on me.

"What are you doing here?" She glared.

"Kathryn, I'm sorry for everything I said but I saw you in that accident and I-" She cut me off.

"You thought because I was nearly dying that I'd forgive you? Sweet Pea, you hated me and in fact you never wanted to be involved with me! After I revealed that I was Kat, you never wanted to see me again. Now you want to be by my side? Which one is it Pea?" She argues.

"Kathryn, I-" I stuttered but shut my mouth.

"You should leave. If you wanted me out of your life, act like it," Kathryn says.

I got up and left the room. Once I got downstairs to the parking lot, I called Fangs. No answer. Jughead. No answer. Finally, Toni answered my call.

"Sweet Pea? What's up?" She answers.

"Where's Fangs? He's not answering my calls."

"He's here with me but he said he's mad at you."

"Tell him Kathryn is in the hospital."

"Woah what? What happened?"

"She got hit with a semi-truck and she's resting at this hospital outside of the city."

"Alright, Fangs and I will be out there soon, wait for us 'kay?"

"Yea I'll be in the parking lot."

Kathryn

I blankly stared at the TV while the nurse changed my IV bag. "Kathryn, you okay sweetheart?" The nurse said.

"Huh?" I said, getting out of my thoughts. "Oh, I just got into a fight with a friend of mine."

"That tall black haired boy? Didn't you tell you other nurse say you talked so much about him?" He says, programming the IV machine.

"Yes, I told her how much he meant to me because she asked who was important person to me who wasn't family," I chuckled. "He and I had a little fight so I asked him to leave."

"Huh," He starts. "He's waiting outside."

The nurse says looking out the window. He points in a certain direction and I sighed. "He probably called my twin brother," I say. "That's why he's waiting out there."

The nurse nods and leaves. I took a deep breath and reached over for my cracked phone. It was still working but the screen protector was damaged. I peeled off the protector and placed it on my counterside table. I stared at my phone and waiting for some notification to pop up.

I get distracted by the TV when someone knocks on my doorframe. I quickly look over and it was Sweet Pea with Fangs and Toni. I sighed and gestured them to come inside. I used a remote to sit up my bed to see them. Fangs rushed in and sat by my side to hold my hand. Toni and Sweet Pea stood by the door trying not to invade.

"Kat, what the hell happened?" Fangs sniffled.

"Fangs are you crying?" I say. I bring his chin up to get a good look at him. "Awe, Fangs I'll be fine. It's not as bad as you think."

"What do you mean? You broke your ribcage, wrist and you had a heart attack?!" Sweet Pea interrupts.

"Yes, like I hurt myself intentionally!" I argued.

"Woah, calm down you two," Toni says. "What did I miss from you three? I feel like you left me out on something."

"Kathryn and Sweet Pea hav-" Fangs starts.

"It's none of your-" Sweet Pea tried to cut in but I spoke before he could finish.

"I'll say it!" I say, quieting the boys. "After I told Fangs I was Kathryn, Sweet Pea said he never wanted to see me again. Then when I went to Fangs' trailer and I overheard Sweet Pea say he wanted to forget me. I was upset, I mean who wouldn't, so I stormed out and tried to drive to Toledo. And now we're here."

"Huh, what do you mean by who wouldn't be upset at Sweet Pea?" Toni asks.

"I meant-" I hesitated. "I meant who wouldn't be upset when the boy you fell in love with as a kid say he wanted to forget you." I said softly.

"You love him?" Fangs and Toni said in unison.

"You love me?" Sweet Pea says, taking a step forward.

"Everyone out, please," I say. Everyone hesitated but left, except for Sweet Pea. "I said everyone!"

Sweet Pea walks out and a nurse comes in. "You okay?" He says. "I heard yelling."

"I don't want any visitors. Only family," I say.

"Okay, I'll tell the receptionist. Any change in how you're feeling?" He asks.

"Physically, no. Mentally, yes," I say.

"Huh, what happened?" He asks. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

"If someone you loved for a long time told you they wanted to forget you, you would be sad right?" I say. He nods and so I continue. "Would you let them back into your life?"

"Yes, I would because I love them and loving them shouldn't make you want to forget them. I did that with my husband. He was my best friend and when I told him I was gay, he said he didn't want to be friends anymore. Little did he know, he was gay too and so I let him into my life to give him another chance."

"Wow, okay," I say.

Fangs

We exited the hospital and I was still in shock. Kathryn is in love with Sweet Pea. I looked over at the other two, who were arguing.

"You're so stupid! You told me before we were looking for Kathryn that you loved her! You said how much you wanted to hold her in your arms! Cheryl was right about you!" Toni yells. "You become soft for a girl but when the truth comes out you get all aggravated about it!"

"What do you know Toni! I loved that girl!" Sweet Pea argues.

"How can you love someone who you let slip away? How can you love someone if you haven't been checking missing posters everyday?" I bud in. "How the hell can you love someone if you only knew her for four years!? When she posed as Marci, you bullied her! Now she's back, you're all lovey-dovey? Stop saying you loved her if you never learned to love her!"
