Chapter 16

READER'S POV

"*Wahhh!! wahhh!!*"

I was in the dining room with the brothers and Yui but then, Ayame was in one of her fussy moods again. I've been trying to calm her down but she wouldn't stop crying or screaming at the top of her lungs. Ayato frowned and he said to me.

"Make her stop!"

"I'm trying but she won't settle down."

Yui looked at me and she said to me.

"OK go through your list, did you feed her?"

"Stomach full."

"Does her nappy need changing?"

"I changed it earlier and she's fine."

"Nap time?"

"Already had it."

I said to her about the things I've already to settle Ayame but she won't stop crying.

"Ayame, stop crying for Mommy, you're giving her a small headache."

"And she's giving us an earache, how can she scream so loud at the top of her lungs?"

Subaru commented as he looked at Ayame. I sighed in defeat and I then spoke up.

"It's no good, I'll try giving her another bottle, maybe that'll settle her down, Reiji can you hold onto her for me."

"Sure."

Reiji said before I gave Ayame to him. Suddenly, Ayame stopped crying when Reiji held her in his arms. I was shocked by this and I then spoke up.

"She stopped, Reiji, how did you do that?"

"Maybe it's because Ayame can sense you're bit stressed and tired when was the last time you slept?"

"I don't know, probably before Ayame was born..."

Reiji sighed a little and he then said to me.

"Figured as much, that's the price you pay for staying up late for studying for final exams."

"Hey, you're not the one waking up in the middle of the night to a screaming baby."

Ayame looked at me innocently and then Reiji said to me.

"Well, luckily, there's still a few hours until school so, head upstairs into your room and get a couple hours of sleep."

"But what about Ayame?"

"Don't worry, it's my turn to babysit Ayame, just head upstairs and get a couple hours of sleep."

"*sighs* thanks Reiji."

I said as I headed upstairs to get a few hours of sleep.

A FEW HOURS LATER...

3RD PERSON POV

Once (Y/n) and the others left for school, Reiji was in Ayame's room and he was watching her play with her stuffed bear. Reiji smiled at her and he then thought to himself.

'Ayame really is beautiful...I said to (Y/n) that I didn't care if she was someone else's baby but now, I do care and I feel as if I'm desperate to know if she's mine.'

Ayame crawled over to Reiji while still have a hold of her teddy. Reiji smiled at her and he gently pats her head. Ayame grips onto Reiji's finger and he said to her.

"*Chuckles* you're too cute for words right now."

Ayame giggled a little and then she gripped onto his sleeve.
