~Irene's POV~

~Dream~

"Irene! Come down here!" my mother called from downstairs. I hurried down to the main living area to see a taller man wearing a nice suit. "Mama?" I asked unsurely, looking over at her to see she was smiling at the man. "Irene, this is who we've chosen to be your husband," my father nodded to the gentleman. I wasn't quite sure of this man, but there was something about him that pulled me in. I curtsied, "I'm Irene." The man bowed, "Benedict. It's a pleasure to meet you, and you're more beautiful than imagination could present." I felt my cheeks flush red, "And you more handsome than any other I could find."

~End of Dream~

I woke up the next morning, feeling someone's breath billowing softly over the back of my neck. I felt a small smile present on my lips from the dream. I turned, seeing Benny cuddling one of his pillows as he'd rolled over to face me in the night. His face taking a serene look, like there was no worry in his mind, and in that instant, he reminded me of Benedict with that peaceful look and wild, unruly, brown hair. I shook my head, turning to see the time. It was five in the morning. I sighed and quietly stood out of the bed before moving to open the window. It creaked loudly, and I winced, turning to see Benny still fast asleep. I pushed it open all the way and swung one leg over. A rustling sounded from the room, and I turned to see Benny rubbing his eyes with a yawn, "What?" He blinked a couple times before focusing on me, "What are you doing?"

"Uh... Going home?" I said, unsure if that was the real answer. "Why are you using the window?"

"I wasn't sure if your parents knew I was here or not."

"Well, it definitely wouldn't be my parents. It'd be my grandma, but no, I don't think she does. What time is it anyway?"

"Five in the morning," I answered as he looked over at his phone. He shook his head, "It is way too early, come back here and go back to sleep."

"Benny, I need to go home and by then it'll be time for me to get ready for school."

"Just wear what you've got on. Why not?"

"Because I ran around in this and that's gross." He stood suddenly, attempting to pull me back into the room. He didn't succeed. I looked at him as he groaned pathetically. He sighed, "Are you sure?"

"I'm positive. I'll be fine."

"Alright," he sighed, and I was out the window, landing on the dirt with a soft grunt. "I'll see you at school," he called over his shoulder just before I dashed off, whispering, "See you at school."

A couple days later, at school, our table was the same, minus a missing Rory and an added Sarah. We avoided the subject of what happened, and Benny and I didn't speak about what happened. We hadn't really spoken at all, actually. I walked out of the school with Benny and Ethan, slowly surveying the area around us. "Guys, wazzup!" Rory called, exaggerating his words. "Rory, you're... We thought you were dead," Ethan gasped. "All I know is, I woke up the next morning after the party feeling awesome. No asthma, I don't need my glasses, and I barely have to sleep anymore. The only problem's the sun: kind of annoying."

"You're a fledgling too?" Benny asked suspiciously. "Pfft," Rory scoffed, "Heck, no! I'm rocking the full-on vampire action, dude. The big V! Can I get a what-what?!" Rory held up his hand for a high five, receiving only our jaws dropping. "What? You drank human blood?"

"They said if I didn't, I'd die," Rory shrugged, "All the other kids were doing it!" Benny and Ethan looked to me, and I shrugged, "It's only a half lie. You'll die if you don't drink anything. There is such thing as blood substitutes and animal blood that works just fine. It hasn't been proven that if a fledgling doesn't drink human blood it will die, either. Right now, it's a myth."
