~Sarah's POV~

Erica leaned into the guy, whispering, "She's all yours, honey." I slowly backed up until I felt my heel bump into the wall, leaving me nowhere to go. Benny ran in, shouting, "Freedom," before the guy simply punched him in the face. Benny fell, easily, seeming to go in and out of consciousness. The guy smirked, "A brave geek is still just a geek, but soon, you'll be a geek snack for the queen. Just as Jesse promised." Ethan quickly hopped over the railing as the guy turned back to me, holding out the dagger, "Stop right there. I mean it."

"Oh yeah, or what?"

"Or, this," Ethan shrugged, throwing the dagger. However, the guy dodged it, allowing it to embed itself in the girl behind him. "Okay, now you're both dead," the guy responded, unimpressed. I watched the girl behind him slowly drag Benny over before throwing him on the floor in front of Irene who was still struggling to pull herself off the floor. I turned as Ethan flipped open the lighter.

~Benny's POV~

I looked over, seeing Irene laying on the stage a few feet away. She looked so uncomfortable in that outfit. She looked like she didn't want to be here, like she wanted to be at home, alone, where the world could be safe. It was enraging to see her so beat down and defeated as she just laid there on the stage. My fists clenched as I was lifted off the stage myself, being walked outside and set in a car.

~Irene's POV~

"You'll have to feast later, my Queen. We have to get out of here. We didn't quite make our goal, but some of the flock will just have to wait. Grab the geek." I watched as another vampire picked up Benny with ease as Jesse lifted me up. Benny and I made eye contact as Jesse pressed a chaste kiss to my cheek and then my neck. I pinched my eyes shut and pushed away the feeling as best I could.

We climbed in the same car, Benny on one side, Jesse on the other. Jesse gently placed his hand just below the end of my skirt, but still on my thigh, giving it a squeeze. I discreetly placed my hand on Benny's knee, squeezing it probably a little harder than I meant. My vision was getting fuzzier and fuzzier as my fangs pushed themselves out, searching for blood. "This is what happens when you don't drink, my Queen," Jesse breathed, continuing to kiss my neck and cheek. I subconsciously leaned away from him. As soon as he noticed this, he placed his free hand on my cheek, holding me in place as he did so. Finally, the car stopped, and I let go Benny's knee as Jesse let go of me. He gently helped me out of the car and onto the same ground they'd buried the flock after they burnt them alive. Jesse lead me over to the spot just below the tree, dropping me to the ground, Benny landing next to me. "I never did like that tree," a familiar voice grumbled. "Funny how they name streets after what they tore down to build them," Jesse smirked, stepping out of the shadows, "This used to be an orchard; one of Irene and I's favorite spots until your idiot ancestors burned our flock alive."

"Yeah? Well, I'd say their only mistake was not finishing the job, and something tells me these we's are really just you's in hiding," Ethan stuttered. Jesse held up the box, "You made us miss our target, so the rest of our flock may have to wait a little longer. That's fine. We still have enough Dusker souls here to resurrect a few dozen of the most powerful vampires that ever lived, and you'll have the honor of being their first midnight snack."

"Well, you won't have to wait, because I'm going to reunite you with your flock right now. Just not in this world," Ethan said, pulling out the other dagger. Jesse didn't wait long before throwing it across the yard and pushing Ethan to his knees. I looked over at Benny, seeing his eyes widen and feeling his heartbeat pick up as he looked into my eyes, seeing them an amber shade of yellow. "Irene, no. C'mon... It's me, Benny." His face fell as he could see the regret swimming in my eyes. He quickly placed his hands on my shoulders, holding me at arm's length. "It's funny, I knew your grandfather's grandfather. He was a loser too," Jesse taunted Ethan. "Irene, just fight it a bit longer, please." I turned as my senses jumped in strength, hearing Jesse's arm move through the wind, and then he shouted, "The hour of rebirth has come. Brothers, sisters, arise!"
