Only You Understand - Chapter 3

"What?" You asked. You could see sadness in his eyes too.

"I had friends too. I wasn't always the shy boy you think I am." 

"You HAD  friends?" 

"Yeah, in ninth grade I made really good friendships. I met this group of boys who also ran track, and who were considered cool. I got really attached to them, but their friendship meant nothing. In Eleventh grade they all betrayed me and spread rumors about me. They did not like me because I was not a f*ckboy. They all were. I thought their friendship was real. They didn't understand me. All I wanted was someone like your Jennifer. I was not lucky enough to have one. Their betrayal hurt. That's why I moved schools. I needed to be out of that place. That is why I came here acting like a shy boy. I want to stay as far as way as possible from those people. I am different in a sense." 

You could not believe this. A boy you just met that same day was opening up to you. You could not believe what you had just heard. You knew there was something on in Jungkook. That was that he was different TOO. He was not like the others. You were not like the others. You didn't fit in. That's what made him odd. That he wasn't how you expected him to be. He was hurt too. 

"I am so sorry." You saw that he was starting to cry. You gave him a really tight hug. You had not hugged anyone (except your parents) since Jennifer left. You never felt the need to. You never saw someone that did NEED a hug. He hugged you back. Then you realized... He understood you. He had just listened to you. He didn't call you dramatic. He did not say you were overreacting. He listened and understood. Just like Her. He was there for you. 

"Thank you for understanding me." He said wiping away his tears. You stopped hugging. "You are what I needed. You are what I was looking for in them. I guess I had to get hurt to find you. To find someone who understood." 

" You understood me too. You understood me like Jennifer. I had not felt this way in so long. Thank you. You are what I needed too. And to think I called you immature. I know I am only here for a science project. I'm sorry I cried. I'm sorry I made you cry too." 

"Don't be. This is what I needed. Thank you." He smiled at you. That smile was different. It was a warm smile. It was a smile you would usually only get from Her. 

"I'll start working on the posters again." You said laughing. 

"I'll start researching again."

"I don't think we'll finish today. My mom is picking me up at eight." 

"Hey it's five! You were supposed to arrive just now. Thank you for arriving early." He smiled again. 

You started laughing again. You could not believe him right now. He just went from emotional to his teasing self again. 

You guys got more work done. You finished around 3 posters. You needed to make at least fourteen. The school was pretty big. Your mom arrive at eight. You guys agreed on meeting the next day. 

"I'll take you to the door," he said. 

"Thank you," you smiled. 

He walked you to the door. You both hugged before saying goodbye. 

"See you tomorrow." 

"See you tomorrow." 

** The Next Day** 

You survived your first five periods. You walked to lunch again. Something felt different today. I think it was last night. I think you needed to let your feelings out. You needed someone to let their feelings out. You needed someone to trust you. You got your lunch.
