Y/N POV

I sigh as I stare out at the ocean, frustration slowly trickling out of my veins.

I still don't understand why that old man kept with his antics. Too young to drink? Really?!

"Y/N?" I heard a soft, but familiar, voice call from behind me.

"Hey, Markus. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with Carl and Leo right now?" I ask him, not bothering to turn around.

Markus chuckles, "Possibly. But I believe that Leo isn't as dumb in public, as he seems to be in private. Besides, Carl asked me to come check on you. He worries, you know?"

"I know..," I sigh, "I just wish he wouldn't strain himself. I've known him since Leo and I became friends. And when Leo started doing those drugs... I could see how it broke Carl. I could tell how it took a toll on his health. Ever since, he's just been trying to unaddict Leo, if that's a word."

"Not sure it is, if I'm honest. But I get what you mean." I heard his light footsteps come closer. "I may be an android, but I'm pretty smart."

I snort at that.

"What?"

"Please-," I grin, "you're the smartest guy I know. Give yourself more credit. And you're not just an andriod. How many times have I told you that?"

"You and Carl are the only ones who seem to think that. I guess I could hear it a few more times." Markus jokes, but I could hear some truth to it.

It would be nice for the rest of the world to think the same. A world without beating, punishing, burning, rough housing the androids.

A perfect world, that is.

I decide against responding, turning back towards the ocean with my hands on the bars. It's a lovely blue, and I've always wondered where the sea ends and begins.

"Say.. Where do you think the ocean ends?"

"I could search my da-"

I raise my palm to stop him, a small smile on my face as I shake my head. "No. I want to hear from you. Not any search from a database. Your creativity. Where?"

Markus goes quiet for a few minutes, and I begin to think he's overworking his brain.

"I like to think of where it begins, rather than ends. As to where it started, I don't think it has yet. But, I know it will soon."

"Are you still talking about the ocean, Markus?"

Markus gives me a smile before picking up my hand. "No."

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" A venomous voice hisses from behind us.

The smile I once held begins to falter, and I turn around to face the voice.

"Leo." I greet flatly.

"What the hell are you doing with this plastic, garbage bin? Hey, you," he nods towards Markus, "get me a drink."

I squeeze his hand. "Don't listen to his words, Markus," I frown when I feel Markus slightly tense up, "Leo, where is Carl?"

"You mean the father of the year?" He scoffs. "Inside, talking to some people about his dumb paintings. Why do you care? Scared to be alone with me?"

Leo takes about 4 more steps closer to us, his gaze, falling on Markus and I's hand, slowly hardening into anger. "The fuck is this?"

"Back away."

Leo sneers at us, beginning to walk backwards. "Everybody loves the fucking android! News flash, it doesn't love you, Y/N! It's a fucking machine! A plastic toy that can't feel shit!"

His tone of voice makes me flinch, and his words cause Markus to tense up once more.

Leo gives once last scoff before turning back into the ship.

I sigh. "I-I'm sorry about him. He must be drunk or high again. You're not just a plastic toy, Markus. I promise."

Markus gives me a side glance before enveloping me into an embrace. We've hugged before, but we've never embraced.

His arms are wrapped around my lower back, while mine are wrapped around his shoulders. It's nice.

"It's alright, Y/N. I was more concerned about him harming you than his empty insults."

I give a soft laugh before kissing his cheek. "Thank you for worrying."
