"Mike hurry up or you're going to be late for school!" Mike's mom yelled.
"Mike you just need to upgrade your closet. This stuff looks like what my grandpa would wear." Richie told Mike. Mike rolled his eyes.
"You're not helping Richie." Mike mumbled. Richie looked in the top of the closet.
"Hey, who's leather jacket is that?" Richie asked, pointing at it. Mike grabbed it. He looked at it. He looked for a name. He saw the name Ted written on the inside tag. His eyes widened.
"It's my dads." Mike gasped in shock. Richie laughed loudly.
"No way. Your dad's too infatuated with chicken to ever have the time to get one of those." Richie said. Mike flipped him off.
"Screw you." Mike said. Richie smirked.
"I'm good. Save that for Max." Richie retorted. Mike rolled his eyes and threw a pillow at Richie. Richie laughed.
"Hey you know I'm right. I'm surprised you didn't go for it when you guys were making out in Nancy's car." Richie replied. Mike's eyes went wide.
"How the hell did you know?!" Mike asked in a whisper. There was a knock on the door.
"Michael, there was a package outside. It's some kind of skateboard." Karen said through the door. Mike smiled. He threw the leather jacket on over his white t shirt. He opened the door slightly. Karen made a face of surprise.
"Hey where did you get the jacket?" She asked, handing him the skateboard.
"It was in my closet." Mike answered quickly. He went to close the door, but karen held it.
"You aren't hiding any tattoos or anything are you?" She asked. Mike rolled his eyes and closed the door and locked it. He grabbed his shoes. He put them on. He opened the box. The skateboard he ordered was there. It was checkered, with different band logos and band names all over it. Richie grinned at it.
"Nice." Richie said. Mike grabbed his backpack and slung it over one shoulder. He quickly brushed his hair and unlocked the door.
"Go get the girl!" Richie yelled as Mike walked out. Mike flipped him off and ran down the stairs. He walked past everyone, but was stopped at the door.
"Is this for that Max girl?" Karen asked Mike. He shook his head.
"No mom. I just wanted to wear the jacket. And I learned how to skateboard." Mike replied quickly.
"BYE!" He called out as he opened the door and walked out. He closed the door. He set his skateboard down. He was about to start skating when he saw a girl walking over. He realized it was Eleven. She had her arms crossed. He sighed.
"Wow, you look different." El complimented Mike. He shoved his hands in his pockets.
"What do you want El?" Mike asked. Eleven looked at the jacket and the skateboard.
"So you and Max are a thing?" Eleven asked. Mike shook his head. Eleven smirked slightly.
"That's not what the boys will think at school when I tell them." Eleven replied. Mike shook his head at El.
"They won't believe you. Me and her just get along now." Mike said.

---------------

Max skated up to the backyard of the Wheelers house. She ran down the side to turn to the front. She saw Mike and stopped. He was talking to Eleven. She hid around the corner. She watched him and listened.
"They won't believe you. Me and Max just get along now." Mike told El. She rolled her eyes.
"That's not what I saw the other night when you two were kissing in Nancy's car." El said. Max' eyes widened. How does El know?
"That meant nothing to me El. We're just friends." Mike retorted. Max' eyes watered. She clutched Mike's jacket in her hand.

-flashback-

"Ugh I'm freezing." Max complained. Mike smiled. He handed her his jacket. She put it on.
"A gift to Princess Max. Also, I have a sweater on, I'll be fine." Mike replied. Max laughed. They both continued to watch the movie from their spot at the drive in.

----------------

Max shook her head slightly.
"Then why are you suddenly interested in her? Is it because she's pretty." El asked. Mike shook his head.
"I never said it was." Mike replied bitterly.
"Is it because you miss having a girlfriend?" El questioned. Mike shook his head.
"Is it because you want to have a sex object. Is she only there for you pleasing?" El asked. Mike shook his head rapdily.
"God no! She means nothing to me. We- were just friends! The kiss was just a spur of the moment thing!" Mike said. Max glared at him. She shook her head. She went back to her skatebkard. She grabbed it and walked to school.

-------

Mike reached the school. He saw the boys all waiting by the bike stand. He skated over to them. They looked at him as he got off the skateboard.
"Woah! Where did you get the jacket? And where did the skateboard come from?" Dustin asked. Mike rolled his eyes.
"That jacket was my dads and I bought the skateboard. Where's Max?" Mike said. The boys looked at each other.
"Haven't seen her." Will answered. Mike heard footsteps stomping closer to him. He turned and saw Max. She glared at him.
"Hey Max-" Mike felt Max shove something into his hands. He grabbed it. It was his jacket he had let her use when they went to the drive in.
"I hope you're happy Mike. I'm glad to hear that I mean nothing to you. And I'm even more glad to know that the kiss meant nothing to you. You know? I am glad. I am. You should be glad it happened, because it won't happen again." Max scowled at Mike. A crowd had formed around the group.
"What are you talking about?" Mike asked. Max crossed her arms.
"I stopped by your house this morning to return your jacket, and I see you blabbing your mouth to your ex about me! Real mature! You know what, screw you. Go to hell Mike!" Max yelled. She slapped him. Mike looked at Max. His cheek had a red mark on it, and a few scratches from her nails. Max stormed off. Mike glared at Max.
"I don't need to. I was already in it when I was around you!" Mike yelled back at Max. Mike looked around. He felt his eyes water. He shoved past everyone and walked into the school.
"I should've known better than to fall for her."
