Chapter 7: Preparation

"Fine...." Anne whined and stood back up. I watched as Ryou walked over to her and kiss her. I was on the verge of tears, I guess that moment during the fireworks was for nothing then. I felt a tug on my shirt and looked down.
"Star, are you alright?" Alex whispered and all I did was nod my head. But I guess that didn't get to him because he stared at me with a worried look.
"So, what are we doing today?" I asked trying not to sound shaky.
"We're going to the beach!" Pudding exclaimed causing everyone to laugh. That helped me feel a bit better.
"Everyone go get your swimsuits and meet back here" Keiichiro announced.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Alex kept asking me on our way home.
"Yes, I'm sure Alex" I sighed. He shook his head and entered the house before me. I stayed outside for a minute to think. What is going on with Ryou? And that girl, Anne? I shook my head and finally entered my house. Alex was waiting for me when I walked in.
"I need a swimsuit" Alex murmured, which caused me to laugh and decided to give him some shorts that were too small for me.

"HIIII Star!!" Pudding jumped on me as soon as we arrived back at the cafe. Alex glared at her and she got off. Who knew Alex was the jealous type.
"When are we going?" I asked watching everyone move things around.
"In a few minutes" Keiichiro answered as he placed some towels into a bag. I nodded and sat down on the ground outside with Alex while we waited for everyone to be ready.
"You know you can go hang out with them" I explained while turning to Alex.
"I know, but I rather stay with you" He smiled as he laid his head on my shoulder. I laughed and noticed someone coming towards us.
"Well, hello bitc..I mean star and hello there cutie" Anne smirked at me and then reached to pinch Alex's cheeks. I quickly stood up and Alex got behind me before she could reach his face.
"What do you want?" I asked while crossing my arms across my chest.
"I just wanted to come hang out with Alex because that's why he's here, right cutie?" Anne then proceeded to chase Alex around.
"Anne stop it, can't you see that he doesn't like you" I remarked.
"Yes he does!" Anne yelled back at me. Then all of a sudden Alex tripped and fell onto the concrete. I ran over there as fast I could and picked him up.
"Are you alright?" I comforted him in a hug. He looked up at me with a few tears in his eyes.
"N-no.." He softly sobbed out.
"Is he okay?" Anne asked acting worried that her 'oh so cutie' was hurt. Alex hid his head in my neck scared.
"Don't come any closer! Can't you get it through your head that he just doesn't like you!" I almost yelled, but held it in. I guess I kinda yelled cause everyone walked outside to where we were.
"What's going on?" Zakuro asked confused.
"She won't let me see Alex" Anne whined trying to get everyone to feel sympathy for her.
"Star, why aren't you letting her see him" Ryou said comforting Anne whom had fake tears going down her face.
"Well, firstly she chased him around like a maniac and secondly she caused him to trip and fall" I explained while rubbing Alex's back trying to soothe him.
"That's not true!" Anne shouted.
"Yes it is! Ask Alex who is, I don't know, crying in my arms" I said holding in my anger.
"Alex?" everyone asked and I lightly nudged Alex.
"S-star is r-right" He choked out.
"He's just a kid" Anne explained.
"Ok, Ok, Let's just go to the beach and end this fighting" Mint said rubbing her temple annoyed.
