Harry Potter slept quietly in his room at number 4 privet drive. If anyone had been looking very hard into his window with a particularly good pair of binoculars, they would have seen Harry twitching in his sleep. If anyone had been listening outside of his bed room door, they would have heard him muttering "No no no no" over and over again. But no one was looking into his window with binoculars and no one was listening at his door so Harry slept on.
The nightmare he was having was very vivid. It was of a man. A man that was more monster than man, but a man nonetheless. He went by the name Voldemort.
Peter Pettigrew sat on a chair opposite his master, and listened to what his master was saying. As his master spoke, though, Peter didn't meet his eyes. Partly because he was terrified of his master and partly because of his appearance.
"We will begin our quest tomorrow" Voldemort said. "There is no way that the Order has discovered it yet. The legends say that it is in Poland, but you can't always believe the legends, right Peter?"
"Which are you talking about, my lord, the wand or the letter?" Peter asked. Voldemort waved a hand dismissively.
"I am not worried about the letter. That old man was insane. I would be a fool to believe anything he wrote. I'm surprised he could even write" Voldemort said.
"I do not believe that the wand is in Poland. That could be a rumor started by the order to throw us off" Peter said.
"But the order knows nothing of my search" Voldemort said, "No one searches for it anymore except for insane, power hungry old men." At that point, Peter really wished that the rumors that Voldemort could read minds were not true.
"You told me, my lord, that the last person rumored to have it was Grindelwald" Peter said. "And Dumbledore defeated him in 1945, so shouldn't Dumbledore have the wand?" Voldemort shook his head.
"If Grindelwald and an unbeatable wand, then how did Dumbledore defeat him?" Voldemort asked Pettigrew. Peter had no answer. "Alright then. We will continue this discussion later. For now, go retrieve that muggle that is standing outside the door. We can't have anybody listening in on our plans." Peter scurried to the door of the room and opened the door to find an old man with a cane standing there with a shocked expression on his face. Peter grabbed him and dragged him into the room. There, he threw him on the floor. The back of Voldemort's chair was facing him.
"I don't know who you are?" the man said, "but you will not suc-"
"Oh shutup you stupid muggle" Voldemort said, shocking the man to silence. "You can say all you want, the point is, you'll be dead in a couple of minutes. You don't understand a quarter of what's going on right now, and you never will."
The man regained some of his courage and said, "I may not know much, but I know that you're a criminal-"
Voldemort let out a high pitched laugh that scared the shit out of the man. "You dare call me a criminal. No no no no no, I am much more than a criminal, muggle. I have killed more people than there are in this town, muggle. Don't undermine me by calling me a criminal."
The man glared at the back of Voldemort's chair. "I am not scared of you. "Voldemort let out another high pitched laugh and the man shut up once more.
"Peter turn my chair around" Voldemort said. "I want to look the muggle in his eyes." Peter quickly ran over and turned Voldemort's chair around.
Immediately the man screamed in terror. He screamed so loud that the next words that Voldemort said were completely drowned out. There was a flash of green light, and the screaming stopped.
Harry shot up in his bed and looked around. It was mid night and his scar was throbbing. He remembered most of his dream. The conversation and the murder of the muggle. Harry stood up and walked over to his table, where he sat down and picked up a quill. He needed to write a letter.
