HENERSON

I blinked a few times and saw my little angel still asleep with his mouth wide open. A smile spread across my lips as I admired his sleeping face for the first time in a while.

It's odd how he often wakes up earlier than me and sometimes tries to choke me in his sleep. It's quite endearing how hard he tries, only to tire out quickly. And with him sitting on my chest, I couldn't help but get excited every single time.

But now, he seems more tired than usual. I placed a light kiss on his forehead before gently fixing his hair to the side, then got out of bed to make breakfast.

He jumped at me as soon as I came into the room, so I wasn't able to ask if he had dinner. I should make him something before he wakes up.

After spending 40 minutes in the kitchen, I had already made tomato eggs, French toast, and a creamy squash soup. I was almost done with the coffee when the doorbell rang. I raised a brow, puzzled at first, but then panicked when I realized who else it could be other than her?

"Oh, crap."

I rushed to open the door without checking who it was, and as I expected, a middle-aged woman with short blond hair and small gray eyes greeted me with a smile. I then turned to look at Mayvel standing behind her, glaring at me.

What a lovely morning.

"Mom?"

"How's my boy doing?" My dear mother, Evelyn, reached out to cup my face between his warm hands and pulled me down to her level for a sweet kiss on the cheek.

"G-great. Why are you two here?" I asked nervously, and Mom rolled her eyes, disappointedly.

"At least greet your soon-to-be wife before you ask," she scolded, frowning at me. I slowly turned to Mayvel, who was drilling holes in my head with her eyes.

I forced a smile, but she glared even more.

We hadn't talked since she found out what I did to Hope, and she's obviously still mad about it. Despite fearing for my life, I still reached for her waist and planted a kiss on her cheek.

I really need her help now.

Mom and Hope cannot meet this way.

"We need to talk," I whispered, still holding her close by the waist.

"Yeah, because you are so dead!" she whispered angrily. "You are a dead man, do you hear me?!"

Yes, yes. But before that—

"Hope is here," I whispered before moving away, only to find her eyes widened in surprise.

She raised a questioning brow at me, and I nodded before using my lips to point at Mom. Mayvel frowned in disbelief mixed with amusement.

"Aren't you going to invite us inside, Hener?" Mom almost frowned at how rudely I was keeping them outside, and I chuckled nervously.

No, can do. I have a naked man on my bed, mom.

"Hener." She called sternly and I stiffened.

Dammit, Mayvel, do something—

"Oh!" Mayvel finally started her act, and I sighed in relief as Mom's attention shifted to my girl. "I suddenly feel like going on a shopping spree!" she squealed, and Mom looked at her with interest. "How about we go now, Mommy?" Mayvel gently wrapped her hands around Mom's while jumping excitedly.

That idea made mom's eyes twinkle with interest.

"What about Hener?" Mom asked, and they both glanced at me. I forced a smile at them.
