Kirara was flat out tired. The Winter Play was a huge success! But after the tiring performance and the cast party afterwards, Kirara was ready to sleep for days. But her father had other ideas.
Kirara woke up at two thirty in the morning by Mr. Hanazono as he shook her lightly. "Daddy?" Kirara yawned "What are you doing?"
"Kirara. How would you like to be there when Pumpkin gives birth?" Mr. Hanazono asked
"Who? Oh, Pumpkin. Yeah, sure," Kirara shrugged "But why did you ..." Kirara suddenly jumped up "Is she?" Mr. Hanazono smiled, Kirara's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Dad! Is Pumpkin giving birth?"
"Get dressed. Quickly!"
Kirara quickly jumped out of bed, her father left to give her some privacy.
This was happening! Kirara was about to see a sheep being born! Was she awake? Of course she was awake! Everything was real! The sheep, the baby, the January snow falling softly outside! Everything was real! Kirara quickly slipped into a plain white shirt, her minty green overalls, her winter boots, then dashed out the door, into the car, and then she and Mr. Hanazono were on their way to the farm.
Kirara fidgeted in her car seat. She was so nervous and excited an anxious all in one! And maybe even a little tartwinkle, just at the thought of being excited going to the place she was suppose to hate.
"It feels weird having two homes," said Kirara. Then she gasped "Can we keep our house and the farm?"
Mr. Hanazono chuckled "No,"
"Oh! Poo," Kirara huffed
Kirara continued staring out the window til they were at Green Brooke. The ride over seemed a lot shorter then Kirara remembered it being. Yuta was jumping up and down by the barn and Hiro was running over to them.
"Thank God you're here!" Hiro said "Pumpkin is in the barn, she's in a lot of pain,"
"Well I can't see how giving birth would be comfortable," said Mr. Hanazono "Come on, take me to her. And Kirara, get my things please,"
"Okay Daddy!"
No one wasted any time. Mr. Hanazono and Hiro were already half way to the barn before Kirara started after them with Mr. Hanazono's bag in hand. Once they were all there, Kirara handed Mr. Hanazono his bag and they all dashed inside. There was Pumpkin bleeding loudly and painfully, it sent a shiver up Kirara's spine.
"Yuta," said Mr. Hanazono "Can you get me a bucket of water, please?"
"Right away, sir!" said Yuta. he left the barn then soon came back with a heavy bucket full of water. "Here you go,"
"Perfect! Thank you," he turned to Hiro "Can you get me a towel or a blanket?"
"Yes!" Hiro nodded, he too left then came back in record time "Anything else?"
"No, thank you,"
"This is going to be so ... I don't even know," said Kirara
I don't even know was probably the best way to put it. Everyone felt too many emotions at once that is was so confusing. It was worse when 'Tired' was one of the overbearing emotions Kirara was feeling. Her eye lids felt like stone, she tried to keep them open but was failing. Maybe, I can just close them for a few minutes she thought. The next thing she knew, she was waking up on top of Hiro's lap.
"Morning Sleeping Beauty," he said
"Huh? Oh, sorry for sleeping on you," said Kirara
Hiro shrugged "No harm done,"
"Kirara," said Yuta "The sheep is born,"
Kirara turned to Pumpkin, her father was next to her and in his lap, wrapped up in a blanket, was the baby sheep. Kirara's heart started over flowing. This was the most adorable, fluffy, precious sheep she had ever seen. "Do you want to hold her?" Mr. Hanazono asked, Kirara slowly nodded.
Mr. Hanazono carefully handed the baby sheep to his daughter, Kirara was shocked at how light the baby was. "She's so cute," Kirara said in a whisper
"She is," Mr. Hanazono nodded
"And so tiny," Kirara smiled widely, she had never felt such joy before.
"You can name her," said Yuta
"Eh? Me?" Kirara asked
Yuta nodded "I think it's okay, right Hiro?"
"I'm okay with it," Hiro agreed
"So what's her name Kirara?" Mr. Hanazono asked
"Um ..." Kirara looked the the precious sheep she was holding. Such a beautiful create needed a beautiful name. But also sweet, with a fluffy kind of feeling. "How about ... Caroline?"
"Caroline, I like it," said Hiro "Hello Caroline. Welcome to the world,"
Kirara smiled at all the approving looks then looked at Caroline. Caroline. It was perfect. She was her sheep and no one elses. For a moment, Kirara was actually looking forward to the move, just so she could be with Caroline more. It actually took a while before Kirara remembered Aikatsu Street and Ako, the Arisugawa Triplets, and everyone between.
"I'm really excited for when you move here," said Yuta, interrupting her thoughts "I think you're fun,"
"Oh, um, thanks," Kirara smiled "But I'll miss home too,"
"But this is your home too, isn't it?" Yuta asked
"I ... hmm," Kirara thought about it. Aikatsu Street would always be her home, she could always come back. But now she had a whole new home too. She wasn't completely giving up anything. It was far, but her friends were still here, weren't they? Kirara smiled, feeling better about the move. "Yeah, I guess," she answered
"I'm sure the sheep will enjoy having you here," said Hiro
Kirara smiled then looked down at Caroline. That's when Kirara realized, Caroline's wool was pink! "Her wool is pink," she observed
"I'm sure it will go away with time," said Mr. Hanazono "That's just what baby sheep look like,"
"Are you sure?" Kirara asked
"Positive,"
"Oh,"
"But maybe Caroline will be pink," said Hiro "You never know,"
"But I know," said Mr. Hanazono
"I think Caroline will be pink," said Yuta
Kirara smiled. For once, after months and months of dreading the idea, Kirara was actually starting to like having two homes instead of one.
