"Valentines Day is kind of a pretty sucky holiday," Rin told Kirara as they rode the bus home "You know what I mean?"
"Not really, I like Valentines Day!" Kirara said with a smile
Rin snorted "It's disgusting,"
"Oh what do you know?" Kirara looked around for someone who might agree with her "Asahi! You like Valentines Day, right?"
"Um, that's not until next week," Asahi reminded her
"All the same," said Kirara "Do you like it? I mean, giving cards and candies to people you love is fun, isn't it?"
"I-I guess," Asahi shrugged
"See Rin, it's a great holiday!" Kirara smiled
The bus stopped. It was their stop, everyone got out.
"See you next week Ms. Anna," said Otome
"Yep! Have a great weekend babies!" Their bus driver, Anna, replied
Kirara skipped to her house. Nothing was better then a weekend! She just had to finish her homework and she was free! FREE!!! She could do whatever she wanted! Bake a cake! Sleep in! Visit Caroline! Bake two cakes!
But Kirara stopped skipping. There was a note on the door.
'Dear Kirara,
We're at the hospital, your mother is giving birth!
~Daddy'
"AH!!" Kirara yelled
"What is it?" Subaru asked
"My mom is giving birth! NOW!!" Kirara cried
"Really???!!!" Kanata exclaimed
"YES!! I need to get there, fast!"
"I can give you a ride!" Yozora exclaimed
"Erm ..." Kirara looked at Yozora, she was excited, and Kirara needed to get there quick. "Okay," she said with a sigh
~~~~~
Having Yozora drive Kirara was a mistake. It took two hours before they finally arrived at the hospital. And it took awhile before Kirara found her balance. "Was it that bad?" Yozora asked
"I have NO idea how Michael deals with you," said Kirara
After collecting herself, Yozora and Kirara went to the front desk and explained they were looking for Machi Hanazono. the nurse typed down something on a computer then called over another nurse who took them to the room where they waited.
"Nervous?" Yozora asked "Cause I am,"
"Hmm ... a little," said Kirara "I just wish Mommy or Daddy were here,"
"So do I," Yozora agreed
And then ... they waited. They just waited and waited, the air getting more and more tense (At least for Kirara). What if something happened with the baby? What if something was wrong with her mother? Aria told Kirara stories about mothers who died shortly after childbirth. What if that happened to Mrs. Hanazono? But the mothers in those stories had cancer, Kirara knew her mother didn't have cancer. But what if she did? What if Mr. & Mrs. Hanazono were just hiding it from her? Or what if the baby died? Or what if he or she lived and Kirara was a terrible sister? What if the baby started getting all the attention, like in the movies and shows she watched, and Kirara wasn't loved anymore. What if the baby was allergic to sheep or grass?!! What if - What if - What if -
"Kirara!" Kirara looked up, her eyes welled with tears
"Daddy!" Kirara ran over to her father and hugged him tightly "I'm scared! I'm scared about moving! I'm scared about having another baby in the family! I don't want to be forgotten! I don't want to be un-loved!" Kirara cried and cried in her father's arms as he hugged her tightly.
"Oh Kirara," he said "You could never be un-loved,"
"But, but, but .... sheep ... rich girls ... grass -"
"Calm down," said Mr. Hanazono "Do you want to wait before we see your mother?"
"Um ... I ... yes, just a minute," Kirara sat down, her father and Yozora sat down next to her. She breathed in deeply and slowly, inhaling through the nose exhaling through her mouth. "Okay, I'm ready," she said
Mr. Hanazono took her through a door, then another door, then another door, then a room, then another smaller room where her mother was holding not one but TWO babies in her arms. "Kirara," said Mrs. Hanazono softly and sweetly "We're so glad you could make it," Kirara slowly walked up to her mother, in awe of the little people she was holding. "Say hello to Kaira and Ivy sweetheart!"
Kirara looked at her sisters. They were so - oh so much better then a baby sheep. Kirara actually started to cry again, but this time with joy. "Everything is going to be okay," she said "Everything is going to be okay after all,"
"It is," Yozora agreed softly "Do you need a hug?"
"Please!" Kirara hugged Yozora and cried. She was so happy and so sad all at the same time! she didn't even know that was possible until then. "I'm a big sister Yozora. I'm a big sister!"
"You sure are,"
"I'm so happy!"
"Do you want to hold one of them?" Mrs. Hanazono asked
"Um ... y-yeah! Yeah I do! Um ... which one is Kaira?" Kirara asked, wiping away at her tears. Mrs. Hanazono chuckled and handed Kirara the baby with tan-orange fuzz on her head. "She's so small. Look at her tiny hands,"
"She is so precious," said Yozora "Can I hold Ivy?"
"Of course," said Mrs. Hanazono
Kirara smiled at her baby sister. There was no greater joy then holding a baby, at least in Kirara's opinion. The world had never seemed so beautiful! Life was so wonderful! These twins were the beginning of something incredible!
"We're a family," said Kirara
"That's right," said Mr. Hanazono
"And we're going to be happy together, even if it's on Green Brooke,"
"Yes," Mrs. Hanazono nodded, her eyes growing heavy
"You should rest Machi," said Mr. Hanazono
"Right ..." Mrs. Hanazono smiled at her daughters "Sweet dreams," she said before drifting to sleep
"We should let Kaira and Ivy sleep too," said Mr. Hanazono
"Do we have to leave so soon?" Kirara asked, Mr. Hanazono nodded "Oh," Kirara turned to her baby sisters "Don't worry guys, I'm going to be the best big sister you could ever ask for. I promise, everything is going to be better then okay,"
