Dreaming Awake

You're my every thought,

In ever waking second,

you never leave my mind,

and when the room fades to black,

and I drift into a dreamy state of unconsciousness,

you're still there,

in my dreams,

as bright as the sun,

as clear as day light.

your presence something I die for,

your absence in my mind;

something I would rather die than let be true,

you're all I'll ever want,

but you're there,

only here with me;

in my dreams,

under the same sky,

looking up at the same stars,

but so many miles away,

I'd run a thousand miles just to be by your side,

and if there comes a day where you leave me,

keep me in your heart,

and that's where I'll stay,

because I am destined to love you,

your smile my satisfaction,

your beating heart;

that melodic rhythm that helps me fall sleep,

and though you're not here now,

I don't need to close my eyes,

I can hear your voice,

see your smile,

smell your scent,

and I may only be dreaming awake,

but it seems truer than any unconscious dreamy state.
