I heard Adam push Darin out of the door and slam it shut. I then heard footsteps walk over to my door. I pulled away from the door and just stood for a moment. Soon, ten knocks boomed throughout the tiny room. I opened the door and was encased by a hug from Adam.
“I’m sorry that I had to lie to him and say that you were pregnant,” Adam apologized.
“It’s okay; it got him to leave,” I said nervously.
“We have to tell the alpha,” He whispered in my ear, “Now,”
He let go of me and grabbed my hand; he started to pull me out the room and through the hallways. We stopped outside a wooden gold door. We both took deep breaths before we knocked on the door.
“Come in,” James answered from far behind the door.
We both walked into his office that was filled with book cases. Books were scattered all over the floor. James’ desk sat in the middle of the room.
“Alpha James, the two new arrivals are the two people that are trying to hurt Natalie and I,” Adam started, ”Darin is the man that used a curse to trick Natalie into thinking he was her mate. We left out pack because he was getting too close and we were starting to fear that he would kidnap her. Darin is a dangerous person and he’s already threatened us here. Please do something,”
James looked shocked for a moment before he answered, “I want to see proof. Natalie will let Darin come to her and when I see what he does I will have my guards take him away,”
I was absolutely horrified, “Please, Alpha, don’t do this. He scares me so much,”
“I need proof first, I’ not saying you’re lying but I need solid evidence,” James sighed, “Go now, the guards are already alerted,”
I stood outside by the koi pond behind the pack house. I left Darin a note telling him to meet me here. Guards were waiting in the forest and just walking about acting normal. Adam was probably freaking out in the Alpha’s office. Darin showed up sooner than I thought. He looked the same as ever but everything about him that I knew was a lie.
“Natalie,” He whispered, “I’m so sorry,”
“I don’t need that bullshit, I need to know why,” I hissed. Darin looked hurt but I knew it was just an act, “You have five fucking kids, three other women you’ve strung around and are married to two of them!”
“I know but none of them felt as real as you,” He tried to hold my hand but I pulled away.
“You ruined my sister’s relationship with her mate,” I glared at him with all the hate I had for him, “You made me think I was your mate,”
“I didn’t mean for her to lose her mate-“
“Oh but you meant for her to get pregnant with your child, twice?” I was outraged.
“That was her; she got herself pregnant! She told me she was on the pill!” He started getting angry.
“Why did you do all this? Why did you hurt so many of us?” I asked with sorrow clear in my voice.
“Because I don’t have a mate, she died a week after I met her,” He started to tear up, “I’ve always wanted a mate! I needed to feel something, anything that was close to that feeling!”
“So you decide to fuck with four women instead!” I started yelling.
“You wouldn’t understand!” He yelled, “You are the closest thing to a mate I’ve ever had or felt and I’m not losing you!”
He grabbed my arm with a death grip and wouldn’t let go; I tried to yank it free but I couldn’t loosen his grasp, “I don’t care if you have a mate, I’ll kill him! No matter how many times you escape me or find someone else I’ll always find you. I’ll always kill the other man! You. Are. Mine.”
He started to drag me away; I fought back as hard as I could but that wasn’t enough. The next thing I knew Darin was tackled to the ground by three guards and the pack leader walked up behind us.
“I’ve heard enough; you and Nicole are banished from this pack, you have two hours to leave and never return. If I see your face here again I will rip you to shreds personally,” James growled, “And you can’t go back to the other women you’re hurt, I’ve already notified them of this situation,”
The guards hauled Darin away. Adam ran up to us and gave me a huge hug and wouldn’t let go until I couldn’t breathe anymore.
“I’m so sorry you had to do that,” He kissed my forehead.
I stayed in his embrace until I said, “Remember when you told Darin I was pregnant; that wasn’t a lie,”
I looked up at Adam to see the goofiest smile ever; he hugged me on more time before he said, “We’re gonna’ have a family!”
