The last thing on earth that Luke wanted to do was talk to Daisy about America. She was sensitive enough as it is, and he didn't want to see her suffer at his hands. But, he also knew that this wasn't something that could just be swept under the rug, either. This wasn't just a little bit of bad news, this was a whole lifestyle change.
So, Luke did what he did best: he stressed about it. He paced, smoked a few cigarettes, cried a little bit, pulled at his hair a lot, and even called his mother before deciding to just toughen up and break the news to her.
So, he entered his [their] room and saw her sitting on top of the covers, looking very happy to see him.
"Luke!" She squealed, reaching her arms up for him to hold her.
Immediately, Luke felt a little better. A smiling Daisy Jane was the only thing that he wanted out of this world, and she was right there.
"Well hello to you, too," He chuckled, scooping her up and kissing her baby face all over. "Sleep well?"
Daisy nodded and let out a little shriek of a giggle, mentioning something about Luke's facial hair tickling. Luke, however, just shook his head and smiled, beaming down at his little girl.
For a second, he forgot about what he came in to do. And what a beautiful second that was.
"I'm glad to hear that, baby." He mused, kissing her on her soft cheek once more. "...But we have to talk about something, okay?"
Immediately, Daisy's face dropped a little bit, but she nodded anyways. Luke sighed and sat on the bed, placing Daisy in front of him. And it was clear as day to see that she didn't like that, seeing as she promptly crawled into his lap, plopping herself down with a satisfied little huff.
"You don't want to sit on your own, baby?" Luke asked with a teasing smile, looking down at his little brat.
He'd never been so in love with someone in his entire life. Daisy Jane was truly his little princess.
"No." She pouted. "I want to sit with you."
Luke chuckled and shook his head at the child's antics, running his long fingers through her unkempt hair due to her nap.
"Alright then," He smiled, placing a kiss on her head. "We still have to talk, baby."
"About what?"
"You know how I have a band?" He asked, trying his hardest to make it easier for himself and her. "Well, my band doesn't... well, we don't live here."
"We live here!"
"That we do, baby, but..." He sighed. "We're gonna have to move soon."
Daisy was confused at that.
"Where?"
"America." He smiled, holding her in his arms and resting his chin on her little head. "California, actually. It's like here, but a little bit bigger. The people talk funny, too."
"Why?"
"Because I have work, baby." He spoke quietly. "I wish we didn't have to, I really do, but we do."
Daisy was quiet. In fact, she was too quiet. But she couldn't help it. She was trying her hardest to compute what all of this meant for her and Luke. Immediately, her first instinct was to panic a little bit.
"Are you going to leave me?!" She asked frantically. "I don't want you to go!"
"No, baby," Luke said in a rush, holding her closer to him. "I'm not going anywhere. We're sticking together no matter what."
At this, she calmed a little, but she was still feeling a lot at the moment.
"Will we ever come back?"
"Of course, but we'll be living in California. We're gonna have a big house just like this one, and the rest of the boys will be there, and we can go to the beach all the time if you want, baby. Not much will change, just where we live."
"What about my house?" She questioned.
"Your house will always be here." Luke decided. "And when we come back, you can a visit all you want."
Luke's first intent was to get Daisy's house listed, but after speaking with some lawyers, the house has been automatically placed in Daisy's name, which she will get as soon as she's 18 years old. Until then, the bills and whatnot will be payed for by Luke, which he didn't mind at all. He had enough money for that, easily. Besides, Daisy having her childhood home was important to not only her, but Luke as well. The more he thought about it, the better he felt about her getting to keep it. This way she'd always have a place to go, a place with happy memories, and a place that was all hers.
Daisy was silent, taking all of the information in. Everything felt heavy to her these days, and this was indeed heavy.
"We're gonna be leaving soon, darling." Luke informed quietly. "In a week or two, I suppose."
"I don't want to leave," Daisy muttered, pouting. "I like it here."
"I don't want to leave either, baby. I don't want to leave either."
"Then we stay!"
"We can't stay, I'm sorry." Luke sighed. "Sometimes... you have to do things you don't want to."
"Like take medicine?"
Luke laughed a little bit, hugging the little girl close to his chest.
"Yeah," He supposed. "But don't think of it as a bad thing Daisy. Think of it as something fun and exciting! Like an adventure!"
"I'm no Daisy." She huffed with a pout, looking at Luke.
"Oh?" He laughed, looking down at her. "What's your name, then?"
"Baby."
Luke could've melted into a puddle of love right then and there because of the little brat.
"You're right," He smiled. "You're my baby, aren't you?"
"Baby! Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby!"
Luke laughed, holding her to his chest before lying down, so that they were not reclined on the bed. Daisy rolled off his chest and cuddled into his side, liking that even more.
"So are you understanding everything?" He asked, looking down at his brat.
"Mhm." She said quietly.
"And you're feeling okay about the whole thing?"
"Will you be there with me?"
"At all times."
"Then yes."
Luke smiled, pressing a kiss to her head and wrapping an arm around her.
"Everything's gonna work out, baby." He muttered. "I promise."
