"Wake up, baby. We're home."
Luke looked down at Daisy, shaking her slightly. Somehow, by the grace of some higher being, she'd slept almost throughout the entire flight. Of course she woke up occasionally because she was hungry or had to use the potty, but after that, she curled right back into Luke's side and went to sleep. He didn't know what about the plane ride made her so sleepy, but once again, he couldn't complain. Daisy was quiet and hadn't been the annoying child on the flight, so Luke was happy.
"Home?"
"California, baby. Los Angeles."
Daisy groaned a little bit and Luke laughed, lifting her up and pulling her into his lap. He kissed her head a few times, watching others to get off the flight while he worked on waking the sleepy tot up.
"Daisy, baby, look." he spoke, tapping on the window a few times. "This is LAX."
"What's LAX?"
Luke smiled even more at her soft, groggy voice, pulling her into him more so she could see.
"It's one of the most famous airports in the world."
"Woah."
Daisy, upon seeing all the hustle and bustle, was now more alert. She watched all the people in their bright vests direct different cars and machines, followed the line of people walking out of the plane, all of it.
Luke's plan couldn't have worked out better even if he wanted it to. She was awake, she was curious, and most of all, she was already in a better mood.
Standing up with her on his hip, he pulled down his and Daisy's carryons, throwing his over his shoulder and rolling hers. The sight was just as precious as it sounded, to say the least. Had Luke been alone, he would have seen the adoring glances from the flight attendants. But then again, if he were alone, he probably wouldn't have gotten them to begin with.
"Say thank you, Daisy," Luke spoke, passing the women on his way out. "Remember how we treat other people?"
"Thank you..."
The flight attendants cooed their responses, and wished the duo luck on their Los Angeles journey. Luke and Daisy walked off the plane and down to the baggage claim, quickly getting their things and making a move to exit the airport. Luke didn't want to spend any more time there than necessary. As much as he loved having his time in Australia with his baby, the fact of the matter was that he missed his own bed.
"E-Excuse me?"
Luke turned around and was met with the timid eyes of a young girl. She couldn't have been over the age of twelve or so, and she was absolutely precious. Luke noticed that not too far behind her, a woman who could only have been her mother was waiting for her.
"M-May I please have an autograph?"
Luke smiled and happily obliged. He placed his and Daisy's bags down with one hand, and picked up the pen.
"What's your name, sweetheart?"
Needless to say, the little pet name almost killed the poor girl. Had she gone any redder, she would have exploded.
"N-Nora." she stuttered. "No h, though."
Luke took note of this and made out the autograph, feeding off of the interaction. As bad as he felt about it, he'd missed this side of his life. He knew he shouldn't have, seeing as he took the time off to mourn the loss of his best friends and care for their grieving child, but he did. He missed his life before the worst day of his life. This gave him just a little bit of that back.
