EDITED**

"Allahu Akbar! I can't believe this mum! Are you kidding me?! How could you do this to her! At least give her some respect...she is my girlfriend" My mum was listening to me with the least bit of interest. I still can't believe that she would embarrassingly throw my girlfriend out of my penthouse. It's not like I really cared about that but it's the media I'm afraid of...this will definitely be tonight's headline.

"Zayd ibn Abdullah! Don't talk to me like that ever again! You might be Mr. Powerful and rich to the world but to me you are only a boy!" She retorted with a full glare.

"Anyways.." She began again with less interest this time. "...you don't even love her! You know that! I don't like her either with her skimpy clothes and caked face! That is not what an ideal wife should look like. A Muslim woman should have pride in herself. She should be bold enough to be modest even though the world says otherwise. Good Muslim people do not have girlfriends Zayd! Have I thought you nothing?! I and your father are very disappointed in you young man!"

I just sighed and tried to deal with my frustration. " Mum.." I said slowly-choosing my words carefully. " ..I really don't need a dumb, ugly and stupid girl here to ruin my life. I don't believe in love and you know that. I'm only with Cass because her father is my business partner and we do look good together. I don't want any middle class girl ruining my image! They are only after money and use our deen to cover up their shenanigans_acting all modest and stuff. Right now is not the time to bring these stuff up. It's getting late and I have to go to work tomorrow."

"But honey...you should at least.." My mom said in a convincing voice but I wasn't up for all that right now so I cut her off. " No buts mom! Walid is waiting to take you home. Good night, I love you. Assalamu Alaikum" I said and kissed her on her cheeks.

She heaved a sigh of defeat and wished me a blessed night. "Wa'alaikum Salam my son. Just know that love is real, you do deserve it and you will find it sooner than you think Inn Shaa Allah." She finished off. I prayed Isha and went to bed thinking huh...love..it's not something I'm ready for.

***********
"Yes come in" I yelled to the person at the door. I just mentally hoped that it wasn't my mother who just walked into my penthouse because I'm really not in the mood right now.

"Hello Mr. Zayd your secretary just called, I think you're late for work and you have an eight o'clock appointment" my house keeper Natasha said as she began making the room. God! I totally forgot that I had a meeting with the manager of Bloom tech! I was never late to work before! I shouldn't have slept off again after praying tahajud. I even missed my morning workout.

I ran towards the bathroom and took a quick bath. Twenty-five minutes and I was already done wearing my navy blue suit.

"Have you called Walid to come pick me up?" I asked Natasha as I headed down the stairs and into the elevator that was in the living room.

"Yeah I did...and Sir your mother called...she wants to meet you for lunch" she said with her head low. She obviously knew that as much as I love my mother, these past few days have been hectic with her bothering me about finding a good Muslim girl and settling down. Of course I wanted to get married someday but just not right now. I don't  want to be tied down by marriage.

I just muttered curses and hit the button to take me to the lobby were Walid was waiting patiently for me in a black suit. I know it's weird to have your driver/bodyguard as your best friend but hey...who's better to take a bullet willingly for you than your bestie without stabbing you in the back? His father was my dad's personal chef so we grew up together whilst young. He knew me more than anyone but he was professional and knew how to separate work from personal matters.
