There was a lot on her thoughts, not that Izumi did stop thinking, never did she halted to think. It's just that, the events that happened these past few days wear her out not just physically but also mentally.
After Izumi woke, Tsubomi Kido, well known as the hero Raven, visited her. She was not emotionally prepared then, Izumi felt the panic rising to her nerves but the older woman held her hand and told her to calm down. She doesn't know why, but it did help her.
Raven told her how she knows about Izumi and everything. Izumi's eyes widened with tears when she heard what the woman told her. She felt the weight on her shoulder loosened as she listened.
Raven was Seto's best friend. They've known each other since childhood. She was protecting Seto and his family from something that was threatening them. Seto was aware of the danger, so was Raven, but the two did not know that Mary was involved in all of it.
They noticed when it was too late. Seto died, he died when Raven discovered the truth.
"I was searching for Mary everywhere in desperation to save her and to know that she's safe. But that wasn't the truth at all, it was part, but most of it was to save myself from my own guilt." Raven's voice broke as she clenched her fist. She lifted her head to stare at Izumi straight in the eyes.
"Then I found you."
She saw Izumi running, but just one glance of how Izumi's face looked made her think to follow the young girl. Raven did not know what urge her to do that, she was the type to think before jumping, but she believed her instincts with a little debate.
Raven followed Izumi.
But the cruel world has other plans for her. A villain attacked the citizens, and that villain was a strong one that it killed 5 people. She was the only hero close that time, so she did her job, conflicted . She tried to convince herself that it was a mere instinct, and she never did trust her instincts once because she believed it was not reliable. People are dying for fuck's sake! She need to save people because it was her job! Even if that girl is a lead, she can't ignore the citizens.
It turned out that she was right. That girl was a lead.
Raven found three people lying down unmoving. Two of them ceased to breath, and one of the two was her beloved niece, Mary.
"I'm sorry. It was my fault mary died. If only I was far enough, she won't try to save me." Izumi muttered, tears falling down from her face. Raven whacked her head because of that.
"Idiot. She did that because she loves you. You know how Mary is. She probably thought that nothing was left to her, she doesn't have a family to return... But you have. You have a family. Imagine how it would hurt her if she did not save you." Raven paused.
"She will feel guilty for the rest of her life. It's not that I want her to be dead, I don't, never did thought once. I know you're feeling guilty, you thought it was your fault but no. It was not. She gave up her life to save you because she wants you to continue. She trusted you to live for her because she knows if you're the one who died, she can't do it for you. Her brother was her world, and she knows you have one. Mary didn't want you to leave your brother just like that, because Mary knows it will break him like it did to her."
That was Raven's words before the dam broke.
Izumi was discharged not long before she woke up. She visited Ayane, who was very much alive. Izumi was delighted when she found out that it brought tears to her eyes.
Ayane greeted her warmly that she felt herself breath, the heaviness inside Izumi's heart lessen for a bit. Despite Ayane and Raven's reassuring words, it did not help her to stop thinking that her existence is affecting the world. In a bad way.
