I didn't know what to do. Should I walk up and talk to him or just keep walking by like I didn't see him? My heart was in my stomach. If that even makes sense.

He looked as good as he did two weeks ago with just black jeans and a polo.

I hurriedly opened my locker to look in the magnetic mirror I keep in there.
"Guys! How do I look? Is my makeup good? Oh God. I look awful! Is this a zit popping up?!"

I looked at Crissy and Ally for an answer, just to see them looking at me like I was crazy.

"What?" I asked.

They looked at each other and giggled. "Nothing. We are just surprised to see you actually going crazy over a guy!" Ally laughed.

"Well he's cute and I don't want him to look over here and see me looking like a mess!" Suddenly that sentence made me stop. Why am I fussing over my looks when he can't even see me? I can finally talk to someone who's not going to be interested in me for my looks.

I looked back over to where he was standing...... To see him turned in my direction. I looked to see what his eyes were fixed on and it seemed to me that he was searching in my direction.

Omg! Did he hear me? Oh goodness! What if he heard me talking about him?!

Ally snapped her fingers in my face."Hello?! Earth to Lace? "

I blinked and looked to see Ally staring at me and Crissy nowhere to be found. "Where did Crissy go?" I asked.

"Where have you been? The moon? She went ahead to class five minutes ago! And I've been standing here talking to you for four of those five minutes!" She exclaimed.

"Oh." I said. I started blushing once she looked to where my gaze had been.

"Do you know him or something?"

"No! I mean yes. Wait I don't know." I don't want to tell her we've met before and she make a big deal about him now going to school here.

"Which is it? Yes or no?"

"Okay, okay. Yes I know him but I don't know him like for real."

She looked at me really confused, but before she could ask for the story the bell rang.

"Oops! Would you look at that. Time to go to our next class. See you later!" While walking away I realized that I didn't even go talk to him.

But that soon didn't matter when I walked into my math class, and saw Jake sitting in the empty seat beside mine.

"Hello Lacey. Because you are so wonderful at algebra, I figured it would be a great idea for you to help the new kid catch up with everyone else. He didn't have the right class last year because his school worked a bit differently than ours. Do you think you could help him out?" Mrs. Lloyd asked.

"Umm. Uh. Y-yeah s-sure." I stuttered. Do I really even have a choice since she already threw me under the bus?!

"Great! Jake, this is Lacey. Lacey, this is Jake! I hope that you will become great friends!" Mrs. Lloyd motioned me over to her desk as she walked away.

"Yes, Mrs. Lloyd?" I tried to sound as enthusiastic as possible, but I knew I failed.

"I asked you to help him instead of one of our other wonderful students, because you are really good at math and you are a nice person. I didn't want to ask someone else and then they make fun of him because he can't exactly learn like all the others."

Even though I knew what she meant I asked anyways.

"He can't learn the same way as others because he is blind."

Well she didn't really have to say it like it was such a bad thing. Just because he's blind, doesn't mean he's stupid and unable to learn. I will now forever look at my math teacher a completely different way. And it's not going to be good. I walked back to my seat while glaring at my now least favorite teacher.
