You groaned loudly as you bit into the greasy burger, "this is a good fuckin' burger." You attempted to speak, however, your words were muffled by the amount of food in your mouth. It seemed like an eternity since you ate, and this was heaven, the light at the end of the tunnel for you.
Connor sat directly in front of you in the booth, looking around at the surroundings, presumably gathering information on the place. "Did you realize the burger your eating has double the recommended intake of calories at-"
"Calories are a myth, doll. A concept created by big companies to control the masses. And for the record, I deserve this many calories after eating nothing all day." You took another large bite into the burger, washing it down with water from the bottle placed by your side. Connor looked at you up and down, methodically planning out his next few words, he wasn't sure what his approach would be. It seemed you weren't cold toward him, but it also seemed as though you weren't warm either.
That was a mistake on account of his programming there.
"You and Hank are very similar, have you met before the investigation?" He queried, you swallowed a mouthful of water and shook your head, "I knew of him, never met him before..." You trailed off, finishing the last of your burger whilst you sat on a burning question in the back of your mind.
It was your turn to examine the person in front of you, slight twitches of your face occurred as you meet his eyes. Something you happened to be doing a lot of lately. "Is everything all right? You seem... distant..." Connor pointed out, his eyes scanning your torso for any abnormalities in your system.
"Me? I'm good, you know you don't need to do a scan every three seconds, Connor... How are you holding up?" You slid the empty tray aside to make room for your elbows, propping them up to rest your head on your hands. "I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" He assured, making you raise a brow.
You shifted your head to a different hand and continued to stare at the Android, "You're telling me you let two deviants go, and don't feel... anything?" You weren't an idiot, that was clear yet you couldn't help but think the Android was playing you for a fool sometimes. "I'm fine." He insisted, complete with a reassuring smile. You didn't seem phased by his answers, nor did you mind that he'd play you like a fool, it meant he was starting to feel something.
A slight chuckle shifted your body as you leaned back into the seat, this behavior intrigued Connor, opting him to shift forward, "I don't think I quite understand you sometimes." He admitted, it was nothing but the truth. You were absolutely positively strange, you didn't act like a typical human being, nor did you seem to act your age sometimes, the way you care for Androids is a rarity among few.
Truth be told, nothing could've prepared the Android for meeting you, nothing he could've been programmed into would've anticipated you. You were an unforeseen variable in the investigation. But it seemed Connor wasn't the only person interested in your role within the investigation.
"Have you finished your meal? I hate to rush you but I must report back to CyberLife, to Amanda before the working day commences tomorrow." Connor waited for your answer, your interests peaked for a moment at the sudden mention of an Amanda. The only Amanda you seemed familiar with at CyberLife was one of the co-creators, she had paintings and murals dedicated to her in some places within the tower.
"No, I'm all good to go. If you need to leave then leave, I promise I won't detour on my way back to the station." You started, standing up to stretch your muscles slightly and moved to the counter to pay. "I was given orders to ensure you are secure in holding cell two..."
You paid the lone worker out the front, tipping them and exiting the restaurant. "If you need to get back to CyberLife so bad then go, I won't tell Hank anything." You reassured the conflicted Android, you could see he was thinking by the way his LED swiveled from blue to yellow and seemed stagnant on it.
