"Are you sure my saxophone will be here soon?" Taehyung asked as he climbed into bed. The twins', in large part to Yoongi's participation in orchestra, had decided that they also wanted to play an instrument when they began the sixth grade. Jimin had followed Yoongi's footsteps by joining orchestra as a violinist while Taehyung had gone the band route, choosing the saxophone after trying it out during recruitment night. "I don't want to fall behind the rest of the class!"
"Yes, both your saxophone and Jimin's violin will be here by Wednesday."
Yoongi paused in the doorway on his way to the bathroom. "Don't worry, Tae, you won't even be touching your instrument for the first week." The now 14-year-old assured his little brother before disappearing into the room across the hall.
"Exactly what Yoongi said." Jin said before standing up from Taehyung's bed. "Now both of you go to sleep, you don't want to be late on the first day of school." He walked over to the door as Taehyung and Jimin climbed under their covers, Jimin removing his glasses to set on his bedside table. Jimin had shocked both Jin and Namjoon the previous year when he decide to continue wearing his glasses instead of getting contacts for middle school, but they were both glad that Jimin's insecurity had faded away. "Goodnight~" The twins replied as he turned off the light and shut their door. He peeked into Jungkook's room to check on him, his bedtime was 30 minutes earlier than the twins', and after seeing that he was still sound asleep, went on to his own bedroom.
Namjoon sat on their bed, sending out a few emails pertaining to a new case as Jin went straight to the bedside table, pulling out a couple of familiar objects. "Hey, you think those can have a double purpose tonight?" Namjoon teased his husband as he closed the drawer back.
"Depends on how lucky you are," Jin replied, pausing in the doorway before leaving, "and if you can get me in the mood." Namjoon chuckled at him as he left the room, walking to the end of the hall and knocking on the door of his two oldest before entering.
Hoseok was on his phone, most likely texting his girlfriend. The 13-year-old had met Isabella, or Izzy as Hoseok liked to call her, when he started his health class the second semester of his seventh-grade year. He'd received his first cellphone on his 13th birthday and proceeded to immediately ask for her number, marking the beginning of their blossoming relationship. They had now been official for two and a half months after Hoseok had officially asked her to be his girlfriend on their last day of seventh grade.
Yoongi was on his laptop that he had received from Jin's mom for Christmas when he was 12 (Hoseok had also received one when he was 12, and Jin knew that his mom was planning on getting Taehyung and Jimin their own laptops this coming Christmas since they would be 12) watching Criminal Minds. Sophia had become obsessed with the show at the beginning of summer and had convinced Yoongi to watch a few episodes with her one day while they were hanging out, successfully getting him hooked too.
"Can you put those away for just a few minutes?" Jin asked as he closed the door, pulling Yoongi's desk chair out so he could sit on it.
"What's up, Dad?" Hoseok asked, hitting send on one last text to Izzy before setting his phone down.
"Are you guys excited for school to start?" The boys shrugged. "Oh, come on, Hoseok, it's your first year of Jr. High! And Yoongi, even though you're not at the high school yet, you're finally earning high school credits! This is exciting!" The boys stared at him blankly, so he moved on. "Are there any classes you're particularly excited about this year? Yoongi, I know you and Sophia are starting French this year."
