When Peter showed up to school the next day, Ned found him instantly and demanded answers.
"When did MJ find out?! How?!" Ned whisper-yelled at Peter. He was still upset from when Peter just hung up on him.
"That's, um, well that's a bit of a long story... did you find anything out about the," Peter looked around to see if anyone was listening to them,"... the things?" he whispered. Peter had to find out what these guys were. He stayed up all night hacking into research facilities, or at least he tried. Peter may be smart, but computers weren't his stronghold. Ned had taught him a good amount, but not everything. Peter recruited him to find out everything he could, but he couldn't shake this feeling that something bad was going to happen.
"Not yet. I tried to see if there have been any lab accidents gone wrong, or alien invasions."
"Alien invasions? Really Ned?"
"Well it wouldn't be the first time!"
"I need you to try and hack into science facilities. There could be failed experiments that they kept quiet... that won't be hard, right."
"As long as I don't hack into the government, we'll be good."
"Great. See you at lunch."
Peter headed to his biology class, his head still swimming with theories. He hoped that Ned would miraculously find something, anything.
The whole class Peter wasn't paying attention, and he wasn't even called on once! At least he didn't think he was.
His next class was exactly the same as biology, except this time his teacher got mad at him for not focusing. Oh if only she knew.
It was finally lunch time and Peter went to find Ned. They sat down in their usual spot and begun sharing their thoughts. They were so distracted that they didn't even notice MJ come up and sit right in front f them.
"You losers are real lucky I'm not Flash or someone like that." Michelle spoke after a few seconds and scared the living daylight out of peter.
"Shit, don't do that!" Peter was still breathing a little heavily as he said this. MJ just laughed. "Have you guys gotten any closer to figuring this out?"
"No." Peter said sadly.
Ned just looked down at his food and said,"I still can't believe you told her everything before me!"
"Well, you're O-Positive! If you were to get sick it would be my fault. And trust me, I almost didn't call you at all."
"What does that matter? I always stay behind the scenes anyways.' Ned said with a small smile. " All except that one time when I saved your life from the Shocker." At this MJ raised her eyebrow.
"Do tell me more." she was now intrigued.
"Not now, we have a more serious matter on our hands." Peter said angrily. "Stop getting side-tracked."
They talked for the rest of lunch about the matter. But by the end, however, they were still no closer then they'd been. Peter was getting impatient. He wished that they could just go home and spend the day trying to figure this out. Why did he have to become a superhero while still in high school?
A/N: I'm sooo sorry that it's taken me so long to update. I've been having some writer's block... I have an overall idea of what I want to happen, but am having a little trouble on the more detailed bits. I try to write about 1000 words each chapter, but this one I could only do about 500-600. I'm so sorry that it's so short, but I want you all to know that I haven't abandoned this story, and hopefully never will. thank you all for reading and understanding<3
