Chapter 7:

Song choice: "Here's to Never Growing Up" by Avril Lavigne (I like out of style songs, I know it's bad . . . ish)

August 30th, our middle school's open house day, where'd we get to meet our teachers and find our classrooms.

I had gotten my schedule and team (that's the system, we get four academic teachers who work together and there's three other teams, which have the other school colors (white and grey are added pluses)). I was on White Team, with most of my friends, but not so much with classes.

First stop was homeroom, which was also my fifth period. And he wasn't even there. Guess we'd have to come back after CrossFit (something I was doing with Helena, who was going into sixth grade, for school) and before soccer practice.

I met my friend Brooke on the way to second period Algebra. I was a gifted math student (although I hate it) and I was in Advanced Math last year. Mr. W (I actually can't come up with anything for names, so I'm giving you a perfect display of my good grades, which I truly have) liked that font with the dots at the end of the lines of the letters. There were papers advertising Flipgrid (which we used four times). I said hello, and we moved onto my fourth period science. My third period was Creative Arts/P.E./World Language, but that was on the other side of the school.

With the brace, I didn't know how late I was going to be after changing from P.E., I told Ms. K about it to give her a heads up. As I was telling her and the student teacher, someone came in the doorframe. I paused.

But it was only Alika, thank gosh. I waved to her and continued speaking. There wasn't much, so I just gave Alika a hug and left, promising to see her soon.

Since my fifth period teacher was still a no-show, we made our way to sixth period Social Studies. There were a lot of people in there, so I just looked at the lists of students in each period class. Sixth period looked alright, and I continued looking at the other lists, just to see who else was on my team for that year.

When I got to the fourth period list, I just about kicked the chair in front of me. Thomas was on the same team as me. And now I'd have to at least do Algebra with him. I told Mom I was ready to go and talk to Mrs. S (my P.E. teacher) and the nurse about the brace.

We found Mrs. S just outside the nurse's office. I told her quickly, and she said she'd let me out of class early to change and that I'd be able to change in the nurse's office if I was uncomfortable. I said that I would, thanked her, and went to the nurse's office.

There were only a few people in in there. I approached the main nurse and quickly told her.

"I had scoliosis too! I wore a back brace, but I needed spinal fusion." She informed me. "But here I am now! As long as you wear it as long as you need to, I think you'll be fine. If you turn out needing surgery, there's not much you could've done; it wouldn't be your fault."

"Thanks." I smiled, and I walked away, off to CrossFit.

After CrossFit, Mr. G was back. We said hello, and I told him about the brace. He told me that his daughter wore a back brace and (apparently) reversed it. He would tell me this at least five more times that school year.

He was old. He definitely was the teacher everyone wanted; and not because the way he taught. You'd want him at your teacher because you could do whatever and he literally wouldn't notice. There will be a story about his ignorance to student affairs later (Haha, I'm keeping you in the dark).

I'm going away until Friday with my friend to the shore and I prewrite everything so I won't be able to update until then. I just want to remind all of you of that so you all don't think I died.

So I think I'm going to get contacts to replace my glasses because I can't keep track of three pairs of glasses anymore. I'll let you know when that happens.

I can't wait until my birthday in one month and two days. I will finally age again (that sounds cooler if you knew how old I'll be).

Speaking of birthdays, today is Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov (AKA the main character of my new favorite musical (I still like Hamilton, don't worry). She would be 117 years old (if that was possible). Unfortunately she couldn't because she was ASSASSINATED ON JULY 17, 1918! (calm down Pearl, it's a birthday, geez). Sorry, I overreact. I just think it was pointless that they had to murder the girls (who couldn't rule Russia anyway) and little Alexei (he had hemophilia and could barely move). But, you know, we'll just murder the whole lot of them. Even the dog. And their servants. Doesn't matter! Yippee!

Sorry for that. I'm just really bored because I have absolutely nothing to do. So I'll just rant about something no one knows anything about.

See you all (hopefully) on Friday or Saturday!
