BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I slam my hand on my alarm clock to shut it up. I've spent a week with the paladins, Coran, and Allura. Coran says that I'll be starting actual work today. And by that, I'm hoping he means saving dying planets, fighting Galra, you know, paladin stuff. No more bonding exercises (thank goodness).
I rush through the hallways and find Coran and the others.
"Good morning Y/-"
"Coran!" I run up to him, "I get to start work today, right?" I say anxiously.
"Yes, you do." He answers, trying to calm me down.
"Alright, so I'll be getting a uniform or something, right."
"Indeed you are. In fact, I have one right now." Yes!!!!
Coran pulls out a...an old t-shirt? Ha, very funny, old man. "Here you are."
I furrow my eyebrows, "This is my uniform?"
"Now, now, I know it's not much, but you don't really need a fancy suit when you're cleaning around in the castle."
"Wha-? Cleaning?!"
"Yep. What's the matter? I thought you were excited to begin working." I give a disgusted look at the shirt.
Shiro sighs, "Still aren't letting him be a paladin?" I groan loudly.
Coran turns to me, "Look, I know you can fight, but you aren't well under pressure. You still have room to train. In the meantime, you will do chores around the castle." Well, I guess that makes sense. "Oh c'mon, what could be better than doing chores around the castle with me?"
"Oh, I don't know, defending the universe would be pretty great." I say sarcastically. Coran gives me a disappointed 'dad' look, "Whatever, sure." I grab the old t-shirt and head to a nearby bathroom to change.

~Shiro's POV~
After training, I decided to check on Y/N. I think he could be a good addition to the team, if Coran would let him. I've seen him train, I know what he's capable of, but Coran is right; Y/N does tend to get stressed or pushy under pressure. He may need to work on that before going on real missions.Coran said Y/N was going to be cleaning the healing pods, didn't he? Well then where is-
I find Y/N on the ground sleeping next to a mop and bucket of water. Poor kid. I crouch down by him and poke at him.
"Y/N. Hey, wake up." I whisper. I don't want to startle him awake.
Instead of waking up, he just mumbles in his sleep. I'm starting to make out the words.
"Mph...f-father...n-no..." He turns over aggressively, "...s-stop..." He starts kicking and his actions become more violent. Must be a nightmare.
"Y/N, wake up!"
Y/N pants heavily, "STOP...FATHER!!..." If this keeps up he's going to hyperventilate!
I shake his shoulders, "Wake up, Y/N! It's not real!" Y/N jumps awake and grabs my wrists.
He stares at me straight in the eyes, tears filling up. Something's not right, it's like he's still asleep.
"Father..." Y/N whispers. As I suspected, he's not fully awake yet.
"Y/N, it's me, Shiro." I shake his shoulders again.
He gasps as his grip gets tighter on my wrists and his eyes widen. "Shiro?" His voice is shaky.
"Yes, it was all just a nightmare."
Y/N steadies his breathing. "I-I'm sorry."
"You don't have to be sorry. Did something happen to your father?" I ask carefully.
Y/N averts his eyes, "...it's nothing."
"That didn't sound like nothi-"
"I SAID IT'S NOTHING, GET IT?" He rips my hands off his shoulders and runs away.
