Where is he? She thought. She flicked her greenish blue tail in the cool water. She lived in a lake, in the woods behind the castle. Mermaids were rare, and appeared only to those who needed them. She heard a rustling of bushes, followed by a thud and an "oof!" She laughed as she saw her boyfriend stand up, brushing himself off. He laughed to and ran to the edge of the lake. He lifted her chin up and they shared a passionate kiss. They looked at each other with a connection that only exists in fairy tales. "So how was your day?" She asked him. "To be honest, not that good. Have you heard the news yet?" She shook her head. " The king and Prince are dead." She gasped. "Are you ok?" She asked him. " I'm sad. But I need to help Courtney." She placed a webbed hand on his shoulder. He smiled and then sighed. "I'll be gone for a while. I'm Courtney's escort." She frowned. They kissed. "I'll miss you." They said at the same time. They laughed and Geoff stood up. "Good bye Bridgette." "Geoff! Wait! I'll come with you!" Bridgette said with despair. "Babe, you can't really walk." Bridgette rolled her eyes. "Find Gwendolyn and come to me." Geoff took the hint and sprinted to the castle.
