"Stealth is not my strong suit, ok? You want someone quiet, go find someone else."

"I have a proposition for you." I look up from my phone, using my hand to shield my eyes from the bright white hot Arizona sun. My gaze lands upon a well built man with sandy blonde hair, green eyes, and a deep golden tan looking down at me... I don't know him.

"A proposition? For me?" I give him a moment and he nods, "Are you sure?" He nods again.

"I think you have the wrong girl there, sweetheart." And with that I look back down at my phone presuming he would realize his mistake or my disinterest and would leave... He didn't. Instead he sat down and slung his muscular arm over my shoulders resting it on the back of the bench sitting beside me like we had been friends for decades. Looking around to see as if asking if anyone else was witnessing this I look at him for a moment while he watched me intently back.

"Can I help you?" I rudley ask. All I wanted was to sit on this bench and read while waiting for Dustin to get off of work so we can go get ice cream. Nowhere in my plan for today was 'get harassed by some random at the park.'

"I hope so." He replied not bothered at all by my tone.

"What do you want?"

"For you to listen to my proposition Justine." With that I snapped.

"Why the fuck would I listen to you. Who the fuck are you and how in the Hell do you know my name?"

"I work for your dad." That single sentence made me stop dead in my tracks. All colour drained from my face, my hands started shaking, and my blood ran ice cold. A glare etched itself onto my face and I spoke with so much malice in my voice it would make even the bravest of men cower.

"My dad is dead to me. He left for a reason and has never looked back. Tell him to go fuck himself. He can stay in the gutter where he belongs."

My dad, James Cartier, was a well known developer in San Diego. Growing up I had everything handed to me on a silver platter with a gold spoon hanging from my infant mouth. In short- we were very wealthy and very well off. That is until he had the affair. He cheated on my mother with his secretary- cliche as fuck, I know- and after three years of marriage counselling he filed for a divorce and decided to get married to Courtney, the secretary, who was 22 years younger than him and her favourite thing to do was go to Starbucks with her friends after pilotes. Where does me and my mother fall in all of this? Well, on the street of course. We were homeless for nine months because she signed a prenup when they first got married with no adultery clause as she trusted him so much and never thought he would do anything like that at all. What about me you ask? Well Courtney didn't like children so he told me to go with my mother. His excuse being that he works too much and wouldn't be able to give me the attention that a child needs and deserves. I was 8. Now I'm 21 and haven't so much as thought of my father in almost 10 years. That is until Adonis here shows up and ruined it all.

"Good, then you and I are on the same page. I'm Sam by the way."

"What do you mean same page?" I ask wearily.

"He made me lose my job and destroyed all chances of me having a successful career in the industry. I am now being forced to go back to school and I don't have the money so I have a proposition for you. I know all about your story justine. I could use some money for school and I think you and your mother deserve some back pay; don't you think?"

"What exactly are you proposing?"

"A plan. A plan to get back everything James Cartier took from the both of us."

"No."

"No?"

"No."

"Why?"

"Because."

"Because why?"

"Are you planning on robbing him?"

"In a sense."

"Then no."

"Why no?"

"It is illegal."

"So?"

"What do you mean so? Besides, stealth is not my strong suit, ok? You want quiet, go find someone else."

"Oh sweetheart, who said I want quiet." Looking him over I realized that him and I were thinking of two completely different things. Glancing at my phone I saw a text from Dustin saying he just got off of work and he was on his way to meet me.

"Well Sam, as much as I have enjoyed our little... chat, I have somewhere I have to be." Sam's face twisted into a sick smile making my stomach churn.

"Going so soon?" He asked.

"Yea, someone is expecting me."

"Well then, I guess they'll be waiting a while." Slowly he got up and my eyes widened, I turned to run and hit a rock hard chest full on, dropping my phone. The last thing I remember was looking at the cracked screen and Dustin's text.
