"Software Instability" says the inner warning system built into my software. The light flashes a tiny bit of red then returning back to the normal blue light.
I think nothing of it due to it happening before just the instability lasted for a tad bit longer than usual. As I walk forward to the sidewalk I check how far away the bar is from outside the police station. The GPS function built inside my system tells me I need to walk or ride the bus about 8 blocks from my destination.
I start to make my way to the bar that the lieutenant was supposedly at then I analyzed some of the safest routes to take, since protesters have been brutalizing some Androids it would be best to keep away from the angry crowds.
I take a turn, crossing the sidewalk to stay away from the angry protesters who were raising their signs. One of the protesters did notice me and then started to alert the others. "HEY TIN CAN, GO FUCK YOURSELF, STOP TAKING OUR JOBS" they screamed at me. Again my light flashed a red color and the mechanism told me "Software Instability".
Picking up my pace to get away from them I came up upon on "Jimmy's Bar" where Lieutandant Anderson was at. About to walk in I see a sign saying "No androids allowed beyond this point". I did contemplate if I should go in but remembering my mission was to find Anderson was priority. Opening the door I immediately get stares and shocked looks darted at my direction, I ignored them and scanned the room for Lieutenant Anderson.
It takes me a split second to locate where he is in the bar and start to walk over to him. The bartender yells over to me "No fucking androids, did you not see the sign you metal annoyance?" I peacefully say "I'm here for Hank Anderson and to complete my mission Mr," I analyze him
"Name: Jim Allan
Age: 50
Health Problems: Smoking Addiction along with Alcoholism. Note: Abusive when intoxicated.
Profession: Bartender
Area of Work: Jimmy's Bar
Children: James Allan - Alive, 23"
"Mr.Allan" I say completing my sentence. He scowls and goes back to filling an drink for a customer. I continue my way over to Lieutenant Anderson and I grab a chair to sit down next to him.
He sees me and instantaneously puts his head down on the table and groans. "They jus-st don't leave me alon-ne, do they?" He says angered but slurred. "Hello Lieutenant Anderson, I'm Connor, a Android sent by Cyberlife to help accompany you in your current and further inv-" He cuts me off "Shut up already"
I follow his orders and stop talking. An awkward silence fills the air between us with chatter between other customers sitaniously happening. "You want a drink?" He asks me taking the final sip of his beer and signaling the bartender for another one with his hand.
"No thank you, Androids don't need to drink or eat but it's kind of you to offer one" I kindly say to him. At first it looks as though a slight tint of pink fills his face and Lieutenant responds "You're Welcome, I'm guessing they sent you here to come and get my ass back there?"
"No Lieutenant, They told me to bring you back, not just your bottom." I say partially confused why he would say just his bottom was to be brought back.
Then all of a sudden he bursts out laughing for a good solid minute before stopping "You're a fucking weird android, you know that Connor? I like it-" he says letting out a couple more laughs.
"Software Instability" The warning system voice rings. I suddenly let out a tiny laugh. Lieutenant immediately looks at me strangely "I thought android's didn't have feelings?" He questions me almost taken aback. "I-I-umn Sorry Lieutenant, it won't happen again." I spoke suprised at my own actions.
The word deviant pops up in my head, I try to shake it out but it stays in my software mind. "Call me Hank you tin can," he says making me snap out of it. "You're fine Connor, I've never seen an Android exhibit such human emotions"
