Kat’s favorite band always was Asking Alexandria. She loved all the band members equally. There was Danny, the singer, James, the drummer, Sam, the bassist, Cam and Ben, the guitarists. She followed them since their garage days to the big shows and she wouldn’t miss a show in England.
Once, Steve, who worked as a security guard, was hired to one of the Asking Alexandria’s shows and they went to the show “together”, even though he was working. At the end of the show, she waited 2 long hours to talk to the guys once again.
“Hi!”-She said to them. Even though she was talking to them for the 12th time, she was as nervous as she was in the first time. Those were the guys who saved her life! How could she not be nervous?
“Hey!”-Danny, the vocalist, answered.-“Your face… I’ve seen it somewhere…”
“Well, every time you guys play here in England I come to see you… Anyway, I’m Kat.”
“Hi, Kat!”-All of them said in unison.
“Hey, guys!”-Steve grabbed Kat by the waist.-“I see you’ve meet my beautiful girlfriend”-He smiled.
“Oh! So this is the girl you’ve been talking about…”-James smiled too.
“Oh, no. I’m sorry, my bad. This is one of my girlfriends.”-He laughed.
“What?!”-Kat pushed him.-“Who the hell do you think you are?! Jesus?!”
“Oh, no. That’s me.”-Ben said serious. Danny poked him.
“You ain’t talking to me like that, bitch!”-Steve grabbed her strongly by the arm.
“Hey, Steve, I think I fucked up some cables while I was playing… The next band’s almost going on stage… Can you please check it out for me?”-Cam asked. He knew the cables were okay but shit was starting to get too ugly and he wanted to help Kat.
“This isn’t over!”-He threatened her. She set herself free and he walked away.
“Are you okay?”-Cam asked. He was gazing at her arm, where Steve had left a red mark. Kat noticed it and covered it with her hand.
“Yeah, I’m fine. It’s a pleasure to see you again, guys. Thank you for being so awesome. You saved my life.”-They all smiled and she hugged them.
“And you saved ours.”-Danny whispered at her ear. She smiled and started to walk away.
“Hey, Kat! Get your ass over here, now!”-Steve screamed and she did what he said. The guys from the band noticed it and, when they turned around the corner, the guys couldn’t help it but wonder about what was happening. Their concentration was gone. Their fans were talking to them but their minds, especially Cam’s mind, were far from there.
“Cam? Cam?!”-Danny screamed.
“What?”
“Are you there?”
“No, man… I need to know if she’s okay…”
“Who?”
“That girl… Kat…”
“Cam, you don’t even know her… Don’t get into fucked up situations just because of a girl!”
“But I want to know her…”-Cam started walking towards the corner. When he was finally able to see them, he realized they were fighting. Suddenly, Steve slaps Kat and she falls on the ground, crying. Cam lost it.-“Hey, Steve!”-He screamed-“I saw that, man. Why don’t you fight someone as big as you? Hitting girls is for pussies! Why don’t you fight me?”-Cam punched Steve, right in the nose. Steve hit his head on a table and blacked out.-“Baby girl, are you okay?”-Cam kneeled near Kat.
“What did you do?!”-She had this cut on her check. Steve was wearing rings.-“You made it all so much worse…”
“You don’t have to take his shit, Kat. There’s always another option…”
“You don’t understand…”
“Well”-He cleaned her tears and the blood on her face.-“Why don’t you come to drink a beer with me and explain it to me?”-He smiled and helped her to get up. He was Cameron! One of the guys that saved her life! How could she say no?!
Cam didn’t take her to a bar. He just took her to Asking Alexandria’s house.
“What do you want to drink, beer or Whiskey?”
“I don’t know…”-She whispered.
“There you got.”-He gave her a bottle of Whiskey and watched her drink it for about 10 minutes.-“So, are you drunk enough to tell me about Steve?”
“Steve’s a motherfucking asshole!”
“I was hoping that you would tell me something I didn’t know…”-Both of them laughed.
“Well, Steve’s the one who pays for the house. Basically, without him, I would be living in the streets!”
“Oh honey… You can’t let him treat you like shit just because he gives you a place to live…”
“Like I said, you don’t understand. Thanks for the booze but, now, I’m going home to see how much you fucked up.”-Kat got up.
“At least, give me your phone number.”-She did.
“Is the house always this silent?”
“No. The guys are probably getting laid right now… Later, they’re going to get home, drunk as fuck. And, believe me, the house will be everything but silent.”-Kat laughed.
“I’m sorry, Cam, but I really have to go… I don’t want to make things worse with Steve… You have my phone number… Give me a call, later.”
“I will.”-He smiled. That, my friend, was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
In that night, when Kat got home, Steve was waiting for her. Shit was pretty bad. Some broken ribs, several bruises… Apparently she fell on the stairs. It’s an old one… Anyway, she was taken to the hospital and left a couple of weeks later.
Cam never called her again. They actually left England in that night. Kat’s heart was devastated. She never listened to Asking Alexandria ever again! She started to hate them! Every time they were on the news, she would just turn the TV off. If anyone spoke about them, she would change the subject. There were many rumors about what happened between her and Cam. Some said she had sex with him and then he just dumped her. Some said they were lovers but, one day, Steve found out and Kat had to dump Cam. Some said he broke her heart. The truth is Kat became a lot colder. Cam was one of the guys that saved her life! And he knew it! He promised he would call her… But he didn’t… No one would be cool with something like that. Her heart was broken and far behind from the fixable. She swore to herself that she would never, ever, ever again even allow herself to say his band’s name. She swore to herself that she would never see them again.
